Kelvin MacKenzie the former editor of tabloid rag The Sun runs like a frightened rat after Channel 4 reporter Alex Thomson confronts him over The Sun’s reporting of the Hillsborough tragedy back in 1989.
Via LBC
In 1989, MacKenzie over-ruled a journalist to write the headline “Hillsborough: The Truth” on an article which was last week completely disproved about Liverpool fans being to blame for the tragedy. The story led to the boycott of The Sun in Liverpool, one which still continues to this day.
His apology for the headline was slammed as “too little too late” by families of the victims.
…
When Kelvin was editor of that rag he would instruct his reporters to ‘doorstep’ people in this fashion all the time. How does it feel now that it’s happened to you Kelvin???
Serves him right!

OOOOOOOH!!!!!
Damnnnn, I know alot of people in Liverpool who refuse to read The Sun because of that man, very true serves him right. I still think I would’ve hit that reporter if he wouldn’t let me close my car door
I remember the awful way The Sun reported on this story. Not that i’m surprised, as they had a reputation for being disgusting towards particular groups of people (working class, ethnic minorities) when they choose to report on a story (remember the New Cross fire reporting?). I hope the families of the Hillsborough disaster get the truth about what happened to their family members. I think its disgusting that they have allowed the families to go on for so long not knowing what happened.
The people of Liverpool have long memories, so much so that the sales of the Sun newspaper dropped by 70%. That’s what you call making a stand and a united front. Hit them in their pockets, where it hurts!
