Linda Ikeji’s Blog reports that 190 Air Nigeria passengers were left stranded at Gatwick airport yesterday morning after they were allegedly informed that there was a ‘lack of fuel’ to fly the aircraft to Lagos.
The madness continued when passengers were then asked to pay an extra £40 each for the purchase of aviation fuel.

I knew the airline was troubled but this is just crazy.

Lack of fuel? That’s the cheek reason they told their passengers. No they, the airline never paid up like they were supposed to and had their passengers do a collection plate type whip round.
Did the airline think they could just get refuelled and fly out of Gatwick and put it on the tab?
KMT it’s a bloody liberty.
Good luck with them suing. Something tells me it will be futile. This airline doesn’t sound like they have a pot to piss in.
My Mum says all Air Nigeria staff were sacked/made redundant last week in Nigeria – many still being owed months of pay, so they’ve as good as gone bust. Planes not in Naija airspace are being left to their own devices to get back.
Bloody joke. My country needs to fix the hell up…
This is the problem with a very large portion of Nigerians, they think on a short term basis when it comes to wealth and have no idea how to manage it either. Everything is modeled after the Babylon structural pattern, “gotta have it now, gotta make that money man, gotta wear those designer labels”. Even the scammers cannot use some initiative and at least do something constructive with the money that they have syphoned from the innocent people they have suckered:
My people are in a totally pulverized state. I come from Nigeria but I want absolutely nothing to do with the country, it has been totally corrupted by the influence of the western culture and promotions. Cousins who I have never met before have no dignity and ask me for money, and each time I tell them to “piss off” as I have never met you and don’t know you from Adam. You cannot visit the country in peace without some relative(whether known or “unknown”) expecting some sort of handout. No problem, I’ll put my hand out and slap you with the back of it.
i thought that only happened to me,why do people think just cause you live in the West you are rolling in it,especially since Africa has the most riches in the world. We should not still be asking for handouts and expecting aid. Look at Asian countries and how well they try with self development.Very Sad indeed
