Some of my younger readers probably won’t even remember this show and comedian Lenny Henry’s comic creation the hilarious Delbert Wilkins (some of you probably weren’t even alive then). But if you are in your thirties or older you will definitely remember this show.
Delbert Wilkins is a loud, brash and over the top DJ who constantly puts down his side kick Winston (played by Vas Blackwood) and has his own successful show on the fictional pirate radio station The Brixton Broadcasting Corporation, which is discreetly hidden at the back of a kebab restaurant.
The show first debuted in 1987 on BBC 1 and I just remember tuning in on Thursday nights at 8.30pm and laughing my young head off. Henry later went on to create a second series and then ended the show in 1988.
Check out season 1 below. You gotta love YouTube.
Due to the age of the material there may be the occasional break in picture.
