“If someone throws a banana at me in the street, I will go to prison because I will kill him.
“Racism is unacceptable to me, I cannot bear it.
“I hope there will not be a problem at the Euros because if it does happen I would straight away leave the pitch and go home.
Manchester City and Italy striker Mario Balotelli has said that he will walk off the pitch if he experiences any racial abuse from “fans” during the Euro 2012 championships in the Ukraine.
I believe him!
In response to Balotelli’s remarks former Arsenal/England player and head of the ‘turn the other cheek, just play good football to shut the racists up’ brigade Ian Wright wrote in his Sun column,
Balotelli, along with all the black players among the nations, will now be aware they may be victims of some nasty stuff over these next few weeks. But I hope all the stars like Manchester City’s striker will grit their teeth and continue.
Otherwise, if Balotelli walks off the pitch or goes mad at a fan, then he will be seen as an angry black man. I want Balotelli to be bigger than that.
For those of you who missed it the BBC’s Panorama programme aired a documentary about this situation on Monday titled “Stadiums of Hate” which showed football “fans” in the Ukraine hurling racial abuse and making monkey noises at black players, brutally attacking Indian students during a match and constantly throwing up the Nazi salute. And while all this was happening the police and stewards just stood by and watched (surprise surprise).
The families of black England players Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have made the decision to stay home and watch the championships on television because they fear for their own safety while over there.

Well, let me ask you a question Mr Wright. Does the black man have a right to be angry?
Typical comment from a Negro who is happy to danced to the tune piped out by the European propaganda machine. Will you be buffing ol masser’s black boots aswell Ian? Plantation treating you well is it Wrighty?
I 100% agree with Balotelli, stuff these racist tossers, WE DO NOT HAVE TO TOLERATE THIS NONSENSE. Black people really ought to stop caring about the opinions about us coming from a nation who for the longest while have shown their complete disdain and hatred for us without reservation.
Some Negroes still do not learn, still trying to appease the white shoe boys only for them to turn around and slap you in your face continually while laughing at the same time. How many times do you have to be clapped to get it eh Negro? Go home Ian and sip on some Bovril.
I know that Mario loves a white woman and such, but me and my man love him – Why? Because we know that he is an angry black man! Furthermore, Mr Ian Wright is an everlasting suck up. Only after Ron Atkinson got the boot from T.V, did he say that he had experienced racist comments from him. What’s the point in coming out of the woodwork afterwards? Jesus these so called British Black role models are on a mission to take us back to the step and fetchit’ era. John Barnes was a next fool. Imagine it took white, French Eric Cantona to reel in a xenophobic (and you know he’s probably racist, too) knuckle dragging football fan that passed his place. I wonder if Mr Wright could look Rio and Anton Ferdinand in the eye? Don’t worry about what Massa thinks of Mario, Mr wright. You are the most assimilated negro going, you was a great footballer and a suck up. Didn’t stop Mr Atkinson from reminding you of your place though, did it?
They should all walk off and abandon the game if that happens. They have nothing to lose. What exactly are they going to lose? Their pay? Their jobs? I don’t think so. These people are so backward and savages it is unbelievable. Ian wright played in era where they took it to the chin and gave their all in football to compensate being seen and called a no body. It is good Mario recognises that he has some power and can practise it, and is not afraid to do so. Smh, black people have every right to be angry at racism. There’s no excuse for it. FIFA is not helping, so he can protect himself.
I’m sorry, Ian as much as I love you, if any black player is being abused to the level of what was shown on the Panorama programme, then they have every right to be angry. If the world sees any black player as “just another angry black man” after witnessing them being put through that type of abuse, then that’s the world problem. They have every right to be angry at something that they are suffering from. UEFA have made no efforts to try and stop this type of abuse in Eastern Europe. Something is bound to pop off! I think no black player should even bother to go, clearly UEFA are not concerned about their safety, so fuck them!
Sorry, I meant FIFA, not UEFA! My bad!
I like Balotelli he’s a character and she just doesn’t care, but the problem with what he said was, when he plays for Italy and they are winning and the other team are losing, the fans on the losing side will automatically start being racist to cause chaos and for Balotelli to walk off the pitch.
I don’t really like Ian Wright but to be honest if I was Balotelli I would wear a T-shirt of Jesse Owens under my top, score the winning goal lift up my top and show Jesse Owens and then go and dance in front of them, that’s the best way to shut up the fans and send them home crying, also if he walks off you know FIFA won’t have his back.
