TV drama Top Boy which aired on Channel 4 in October has been nominated for a BAFTA television award.
The drama written by Ronan Bennett is up for Best Mini Series.
Top Boy is set on the fictional Summerhouse housing estate in Hackney, East London, and follows the life of 13-year-old Ra’Nell, (Malcolm Kamulete) who is left to fend for himself after his single mother is sectioned under the Mental Health Act. Ra’Nell then comes to the attention of local criminals Dushane (Ashley Walters) and his friend Sully (Kane Robinson). Dushane wants to be the area’s “top boy” – to control the estate’s lucrative drugs market, at whatever cost, even if it includes maiming or killing rivals.
The BAFTA Awards ceremony will take place on May 27.

Well it comes as no surprise to me that Top Boy has been nominated for a BAFTA. I bet Ronan takes home the award.
