Oh dear MOBO’s…. if it’s not one thing it’s another…
Jah Cure (real name Siccature Alcock) MOBO nomination for Best Reggae has been removed after organisers discovered that he was convicted of rape, gun possession and robbery back in 1999. He was released from prison in 2007.
The MOBO Awards will take place in Glasgow on the 5th October.
…..
According to blogger Marvin Sparks “the witness that helped to convict him said she recognised his voice. No other real evidence was there to support him committing the crime”.
If this is true then his lawyer must have been Mickey Mouse. I don’t know how the prosecution could win this case, and a court convict a man based on a witness telling them ‘I recognised his voice’.
But it is the nature of Jah Cure’s alleged crime that has led to his nomination being disqualified and perhaps pressure from their sponsors.
The reality is that society generally views sexually based offences as the most heinous. Once you have been convicted of sexual assault/rape and it becomes common knowledge you become a social pariah for life. Those who are just convicted of murder/manslaughter get an easier ride.
Anyway your thoughts please…..

Who is MOBO trying to please. They only discovered but the whole world including punk rockers knew this from before. mobos mmmm
Maybe one of their sponsors.
Wasn’t he nominated for a MOBO before?
So much for rehabilitation! When can someone turn their life around? He has paid the price for his crime and now he is trying to turn his life around. As blogger Marvin Sparks said, his conviction is open to question and not as clear cut as those now making judgement on him think.
I don’t condone what he was convicted of but, I am all for people being given 2nd chances. He has a God given talent which he is using and his songs are all inspirational. Wake up MOBO you should have know that anyway if anyone associated is worth their salts they should have known that it’s not precisely hidden is it?
