Songwriting duo Nick Ashford and wife Valerie Simpson

Singer/songwriter Nick Ashford who along with wife Valerie Simpson performed and wrote numerous classic R&B hits has sadly died of throat cancer. He was 69.

Known as Ashford & Simpson, the duo wrote and produced Motown’s Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell, including Ain’t No Mountain High Enough, You’re All I Need to Get By, Ain’t Nothing Like the Real Thing and Your Precious Love.
