NEW MUSIC: BEYONCE – ‘BLACK CULTURE’

Check out Beyonce’s track Black Culture which samples Michael Jackson’s Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough.

I’m guessing that this track (which sounds pretty good) was recorded and then locked away in the vault before Michael died, but Sony has now decided to leak it.

I bet if they decide to release the track here in the UK, the title will be changed to ‘Urban’ Culture and the chorus will also receive a ‘face lift’.

Black Culture – The song title is ‘far too threatening’ for these shores, and  just hearing Beyonce shout the words “We Are Black Culture” will send many industry bigwigs in to a state of shock and confusion.

ha ha ha!

For those who don’t know the word “Urban” replaced the word black in the UK years ago.

Now it’s “Urban comedy”, “Urban music”, “Urban television”, Urban radio, and my personal favourite “Urban comedians”.

I no longer refer to myself as being black. No! I am now “Urban”.

Anyway your thoughts please on the track. Hit or Miss?

  1. It’s not a bad track, I think alot of people will like it, but I’m a little uneased by it to be honest, not really feeling Beyounce telling me that she is and I am Black Culture, Thanks Bey, but take it somewhere else love! lol (and why is she laughing like that?) Hummm.

but I’m sure her fans will love it.

  2. you know what!!!!
this is actuallly interesting!!! cos she is
it would be worth seeing the boardroom meeting where they try and dissuade her from doing it..
BUT I PERSONALLLY I THINK A WOMAN OF BEYONCES POWER IN THE GAME SHOULD MAKE A TRACK LIKE THIS.. BECAUSE THATS WHAT IT IS!!!
BRILLIANT ( BUT I KNOW THEY WONT DO IT) plus th MJ nod!! its kinda like a little kick in the back for all those PEOPLE THAT HAVE BECOME EMBARRESSED TO SAY THE WORD BLACK….!!!

  3. It’s hardly soul inspiring..I’m not sure if the Kir Royale I;m christmas sippin is making me feel this way or whether I just feel that this track is almost a pisstake. If you lke the beat then buy Off The Wall and end it but seriously I think Jay, Beyonce et al will sell anything including black culture to the lowest denominator. What are the lyrics really saying, it sounds like a moden day shuck and jive job…Thanks Beyonce, all those discussions with ignorant folk trying to explain that black culture is more than sexual innuendo and booty shake in music goes ten steps back-nice …hiccup…

  4. BUT YOU KNOW WHAT CYNDI!!
YOUR RIGHT i’m propping it cos i wanna see it explained and debated not cos its any goood..!!! its does sound like a piss take!!

  5. I like it, because some people believe that been black is being ghetto. They’re refine and well spoken black people. Were black because of our DNA not our behavior…Black Culture All The Way.

@Janice in the UK is Urban in America is African American people are afraid of the word black, the sad thing is anyone can mistreat or disrespect someone of color without calling them black.

  6. And @Ty, let people say whatever, be it about the song or black culture or whatever. It doesn’t make a difference as u can see, they are still going to say whatever they want to say and pick up on whomever they want like B princess did to janice.

  7. I am a lay man in music who does not know what sampling means. I’ll keep it moving…. I do not want to spoil the thread…

  8. okay lati and dera…. when you sample you are digital taking the original piece of music and shaping it to use…
so the music is still from the source up to a point
when you a make a soundalike like lati pointed out… you remake the music ,replay the same chords and try to recreate the original by playing all the parts….
so this song JUST sampled bits of the MJ TUNE dont stop till you get enough.. IF YOU LISTEN YOU CAN HEAR MICHEAL JACKSONS VOICE UNDER THE MUSIC that beyonces using

only difference is IF they replayed it it wouldnt have any bits of the original in the song! you get it now?

  9. @ lati I was simple high lighting that in many countries the word black has been replace by other name because some believe that calling someone black is consider offensive.

  10. @ B Princess, i hear you. Was trying to tell Ty something, that nothing will stop a debate from going on and that you had continued the debate. I can’t even make out what part of black culture she is singing about or where she is coming from with it.

  11. she’s not really singing about black culture at all.. its like she wrote a pop song and then tagged the words on the end of the chorus …
not really a well thought out record

  12. And the words really stick out like a sore thumb because of the constant repetition, but very empty in a way.
