Nelly has inked a deal to develop a reality television series with A. Smith & Co. Productions, it was announced Wednesday. The show will chronicle “the day-to-day life” of the rapper.

“I look forward to showing my fans what my world is about and bringing more attention to my non-profit organizations,” said Nelly, whose real name is Cornell Haynes Jr., in a statement.

Nelly runs the non-profit organization 4 Sho 4 Kids. He has participated in campaigns for bone marrow registration in honor of his sister, Jackie Donahue, who died in March after a long battle with leukemia.

The program is expected to air sometime early next year. No further details were available.

The 30-year-old rapper appeared in the film The Longest Yard earlier this year. His hits have included Hot in Herre,My Place and Over and Over.He has won three Grammys.

A. Smith & Co. has produced reality programs such as Hell’s Kitchen,The Swan and Paradise Hotel— all for Fox.

Nelly’s popularity has waned considerably over the past 3 years and his last album Brass Knuckles ended up in bargain bins worldwide, a week after it’s release. 

Then after years of dodging the question “are you and Ashanti dating?”, last year suddenly out of nowhere he decides to admit that they were in fact an item, clearly hoping to generate some much needed attention to both their careers.

But sadly this strategic move failed to ignite an ounce of interest. This “revelation” would have only been of interest back in 2003.

Anyway now Nelly has inked a deal to develop his own “reality” show. If he is honest with himself, this is all to raise  his profile to what it once was.

Well I suppose when all else fails you might as well go down the tired and tested “reality” route.
