UK TV: DIZZEE RASCAL ON NEWSNIGHT

Dizzee Rascal appeared on Newsnight last night (November 5th) and spoke to presenter/the man politicians go out of their way to avoid, Jeremy Paxman.

I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY AT THIS MOMENT IN TIME EXCEPT FOR….

WHAT THE F**K NEWSNIGHT AND WHAT THE F**K DIZZEE?????????

Your thoughts please…….

  1. Approximately 10% of America is African American, Obama won 75% of the voters=media asking exclusively black people their opinion on the US presidency.

  2. It was just awful! He brought the tone of the show down completely…there are so many black figures in the media who they should have used.
And why did Dizzee even agree to do this interview?? SMH

  3. they asked me to do it!!! and i refused!!!
i tried to type this in yesterday but it wouldnt let me…
i didnt watch it .. i didnt want to !!

  4. I’M GLAD IT WAS EMBARRESSSING!!

i’m tired of being called to represent inteligence black opinions…

  5. thats what I wanna know TY, why the decline, crumbs you could have saved us all…damn fam lol… but I ain’t mad!

perhaps alot of people turned them down, and so they were left with Mr Rascal?

  6. here ye, here ye,… Ty has spoken…

take back the first bit of my comment ^^… but I agree alot and def’ see where your coming from. alot of the time I tune into uk radio hip hop shows and here alot of stuff but not much TY why is that, what is all that about?? perhaps what you write about and opinions are not favoured by these types… not enough, murder, sex, drugs??? i don’t know…

also this Obama yes we can is good and all, but can anybody name his policys, what exactly he has stated to change, what he will be addressing within his term???

I have a bad feeling people have fallen head over heels with this man and his appearance and not what he really stands for, yes he’s black and thats great believe I’m happy,… but I am far from convinced that he is for the greater good.

  7. Ah Ty, I understand what you’re saying about people not playing your music but I was just so ashamed watching that. I haven’t even been able to watch it again because I was so uncomfortable about it the first time around.

  8. well i don’t know what kind of kinky mess you and ty have going on but…i’m embarrassed for you all.

that interview was atrocious…i cringed just watching it. the way he spoke was very…

    we you already know.

and i feel you ty on “THAT” issue.

i call that “rip n’ dip”…they fuck you and then leave you hangin’

sounds like a really bad relationship, doesn’t it?

  9. “i’m embarrassed for you all.”

i didn’t mean it like that. i was reading it back and that sounds bad. lol.

i meant i can empathiz(s?)e with you all.

  10. There are people who have said that Dizzee did a good job, that he kept it real, that they would vote for him if he was to run for the job of Prime Minister.. (seriously)

When God was handing out brains and common sense he missed a large section of the community…

  11. Ty!

If no one speaks for us, then who will speak TO us?

If you turn down another opportunity like this, I will cease to be a fan.

    LOL

Seriously, though, I know it’s a thankless job, but SOMEONE has to continue to perpetuate the notion that one can be intelligent AND a Hip Hop artist @ the same time…be strong, My Brother!!!

Anyway, SMH @ Dizzee…oh, my Ghanaian brother!

  12. sundance sometimes you gotta say no!!!!!!
and sometimes you gotta say if you cant hear you must feel …
this country got people thinking their invincible!!!!!!

  13. ok i gotta say it………
imagine on the single most important day of american history for this decde most certainly…. THEY WANT A RAPPERS OPINION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF!!
THIS WAS PROBABLY ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT MOMENTS IN BLACK AMERICAN HISTORY AND AMERICAN HISTORY IN TOTAL …. and they want a rappers opinion!!!!!!!!
    what for ?
    i think thats disresctful….
    speak to david lammie
or speak to james gallowawy…… or some young city clack city slicker… or viv ahmun whose doing amazing work in the black community and could certainly speak from our perspective… but no A RAPPER..

  14. I’ve tried to watch Dizzee on News Night all he way through… but I can’t do it….. It’s too awful…..

Ty I think you should watch it. You need to see it. You could have saved us from this…. you could have saved us son……

    (lol)

  15. Having read your comments Ty, i do understand your point of view.

There are many people that they could have invited on the show, for Dizzie to accept was just plain wrong. He was so out of his depth.
    It was horrible.

It was almost like the USA saying we give you the MIGHTY POWERFUL OBAMA ON THIS BEAUTIFUL LANDMARK DAY and the UK we give you Dizzie Rascal. WTF !!!

I really do agree/share your points of view, especially where your music is concerned, but on such a special day we did not need to hear this fool talking shit,…. any other day but just not this one……i wanted to weep.

  16. To furher make me want to swallow my tongue, I just played it again, now why the f–k did i do that……..

Whoever watched this and thinks that Dizzie did alright is just as………. dare i say it…. as backward as he sounds on this video clip…..

Let politicians do what they do best and let musicians do their thing.
The UK is dying right now.

  17. I am getting annoyed again… There are people out there who actually think that this was a good interview……defending Dizzie. SMH

The £1.99 fried chicken and chips takeaway meals have turned these idiots brains to mush!

  18. Ahhh boi,… I just got in from work and have watched the clip, well 40 sec’s of it,… it was so painful, why Dizzy, why did u do that to us all… “Do you ever think that could happen in this country?… YEAH MAN…!” that just killed me right there, I had to stop it! no more!

  19. Believe me when they put him against Baroness Amos, it was definitely showing two sides of the same coin but not in a good way!

I cringed under my blanket when he spoke. I wouldn’t mind but it was as if he was trying to rap (of a fashion) his way through the, dare I say, interview and he said nothing of any meaning. He was truly out of his depth, he knows nothing about politics other than the square mile he comes from otherwise he would have had made a more coherent contribution to the debate. Chuh!! I kept thinking “there’s so many other people they could have asked” but that’s the BeeB for you, closed mind-minded as usual. They barely represent the diversity of that is the British public. :((

  20. Chineke mooooo……Holy crap on a cracker, the boy just looks out of his depth. He thought he was on Channel U, **In my best Sam L Jackson voice**this is the BBC, Godamnit! Can’t believe I paused CSI for this.

  21. “The £1.99 fried chicken and chips takeaway meals have turned these idiots brains to mush!”

    lol!

  22. @ janice ty sounds tired and defeated….!!!
i am not even gonna say a word! holler offline!!!!
i am doing my album .. everyday and everynight yes i am tired… but defeated … thats just plain disresepctful

  23. Why is saying that some one sounds tired and defeated, essentially fed up with the system here, disrespectful?

Sounds like one big old nerve has been hit.

Anyway just want to say that I visit the site on a regular basis and love it! Keep it up Miss Mad!

  24. To be honest I think your reasoning is lame Ty, fair enough you have issues with getting airplay for your music but some things are bigger than that.

  25. This is my complaint sent directly to the BBC.

    Dear Sir/Madam,
I feel compelled to write to you in respect of the Newsnight broadcast featuring the recording artist Dizzee Rascal and Baroness Amos. It is my considered view that the person who booked both parties did so on a deliberate basis to undermine the sense of elation felt within the black community following the landslide victory of Barack Obama in the US.

This instance merely compounds my continued irritation with a slew of broadcasts, (both TV and Radio) by the BBC which demonstrate a clear agenda in racial terms. This week the world witnessed one of the most historic changes ever, so historic in fact that it was too much for the heirachy of the BBC to swallow. Thus, the heirachy carefully selected Dizzee Rascal to undermine the black community and any sense of black progression in the UK. White Britain and indeed the BBC feel threatened by Barack Obama, because of who he is and what he has done. The person/s who did the booking were well aware of the fact that Dizzee is an uneducated inarticulate fool who would generate ill-feeling and cause those among us who are the reverse to bow our heads in shame.

I recall, as another example of an agenda, a broadcast with Jeremy Paxman on the subject of Zimbabwe. Paxman, in speaking to a correspondent in Zimbabwe referred to President Robert Mugabe as ‘that man in that country.’ Whether Paxman and others like or dislike the reigning President you should address him as per his title. A dislike of a white equivalent would never draw such phrasing. Further, it is noteworthy that Paxman once sparked fury in his assertion (ridiculously so), that middle-class white men have no chance in TV.

Of course, I expect my complaint to be disregarded and the relevant denials issued, nonetheless I will continue to raise my concerns.

  26. michelle edwards:

everybody is allowed to express their views and dizzee expressed his.

just because Dizzee does not speak the way YOU do….does not mean that his views should be discounted.

we need to engage more young people in the political process at all levels…including hearing their views in the media

your letter to the BBC embarasses YOU more than anything else. It demonstrates your close-minded nature and your desire to silence the black underclass because they don’t ‘speak white’ enough for you.
the letter exposes that you seem so overly concerned about how the white majority views you.
Dizzee does not speak for all black people…just himself.

do the black middle-classes ranting and raving in this forum, resent the fact that a black underclass exists?……….. well that class DOES exist…so you better deal with it ! And no matter how the black middle-classes dislike it…we the black under-class will NOT be silenced. We have a right to comment just as much as any of you.

    Well done Dizzee…

(I also invite Newsnight to allow contributions from the black working/under-classes on non-race based political topics e.g. Iraq War, Israel conflict etc.)
