Murdered: Shakilus Townsend
Five people have been arrested in connection with the murder of Shakilus Townsend, police said today.
Officers arrested one person around 9pm yesterday and the others this morning, Scotland Yard said.
Shakilus, 16, was stabbed and beaten with a baseball bat in an attack in Thorton Heath, south London, on Thursday.
He died from his injuries the following day.
Two men aged 22 and 18, and two teenage boys aged 16 and 17, and a 16-year-old girl have been arrested in connection with his death.

Witnesses have claimed that after this brutal attack his murderers ran away laughing.
If these five individuals were in fact involved then I wonder if they are laughing now?

shak was a very well mannered boy who did nothin but helped me when i had no-one. he was there for me when i needed a shoulder to lean on and i miss him so much!! i know all them pics on bebo with him holdin a knife and gun may make you think he deserved it but he would not ever hurt no one
he was generally good, yeah he did use to wind some people up but he was messing around.
no one deserves their life to be tkaen away like that

Sorry for the loss..life is life.
All emotions considered if we keep having to say sorry for losses but not prevent the loss what really is the point?
I’m tired of hearing about both young AND old people flirting with this psuedo gang culture and then being surprised and devastated at the loss. OF COURSE he was a nice boy, all humans fundamentally are but there needs to be a level of honesty about how likely some people will uinfortnately be victim or a part of such unique horrid incidents.
Once again, I mean no offence to the deceased family /friends ( and am stil not truly sure if this is the right response to post given the grief of all concerned) but if we want to stop hearing about this sort of thing then we need to look each other in the eye honestly and ask ” is there anything this person could have done to avoid being in this situation” because I still am not buying that kids are ambling around minding their own business on road and are getting killed for nothing.
