I like this song but im looking for a bit more raw with an album title like that dublin ireland in this bitch geah
hmm not feelin it much, lyrics are nice still, but i dont like the production… i do love that track with keri hilson on, thats mad! i like the fried chicken tune aswell, im more forwrd to the album now haha1 go nas!
The song is pretty good, but I’m getting tired of everyone referring to Barack Obama as “black” and “first African American ____” (democratic nominee, etc.)
He is equally Caucasian and even has some distant Native American ancestry. The whole “one drop rule” makes me very uncomfortable. I’m wondering how people who identify themselves as “black Americans” feel about this?
I am, for all intents and purposes, Caucasian, and my husband is Hispanic. Our children, therefore, are bi-racial, and I always refer to them as such. Sometimes I will have to fill out an official document that orders me to check one box — I always check two or write in the margins. We should all be proud of whatever ancestry we have and not allow ourselves to be put into neat boxes.
How is it that we classify an individual as one race or another? It seems to depend very heavily on one’s appearance. I wonder how the media would refer to Barack Obama had his name and appearance been more “Anglo”.
“You see, unfortunately, I am not black. There are lots of different kinds of blood in our family. But here in the United States, the word ‘Negro’ is used to mean anyone who has any Negro blood at all in his veins. In Africa, the word is more pure. It means all Negro, therefore black. I am brown.” – Langston Hughes
Very interested to read anyone else’s thoughts on this. Best wishes.
