SB.TV DEBATE: IS JOHN TERRY RACIST? (BLACK DEBATER DOESN’T THINK SO)

Is footballer John Terry racist? Well most of you already know what I think. But check out SB.TV’s recent debate on the subject matter featuring rapper Scorcher (#Sports By Scorch). WARNING: Some profanity. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=61K3TDVGH9g [Thanks Lorraine] Scorcher made some good points. However I don’t agree with his comments with regards to the word “nigger/nigga”.  Misguided black folk need to stop believing that it can be used as a “term of endearment” and can now be seen as “positive”. The word is vile and []

UK MUSIC: IKES FT SCORCHER AND JERMAINE RILEY – GIRL TALK

Check out the new single Girl Talk from rapper Ikes featuring Scorcher and Jermaine Riley. …. Girl Talk is your usual UK fare. A “seductive” track made for the ladies with a guy singing the hook and a touch of auto-tuning.  It’s not my cup of tea at all. It just lacks something. But  the 12-16 year old demographic will probably love it. The Video – A mix of different ideas and style straight from mid 90s-early noughties US rap videos. Your thoughts please. Hit or Miss?

UK MUSIC: TOP BOY SPECIAL: ASHER D, SCORCHER, SWAY, KANO (CYPHER)

Currently riding on the crest of a wave thanks to the new four-part “urban” drama Top Boy (which is currently airing on Channel 4 – 10pm) cast members/artists Asher D (Ashley Walters), Kano (Kane Robinson) alongside Sway, Scorcher and Adidas (which seems to be “TEAM UK” brand of choice) appear in the first episode of Soul Culture’s new online series Prose N Percussion featuring drummer Pauli The PSM. ….. Your thoughts please. Hit or Miss?

UK MUSIC: PREEYA KALIDAS FT SCORCHER – IT’S A PROBLEM

Actress/ singer Preeya Kalidas is back with the new single It’s A Problem featuring rapper Scorcher. …. I don’t see It’s A Problem becoming a major chart hit but it isn’t a bad single. I like the beat but as usual this is a UK effort that could have done without featuring rapper. Your thoughts please. Hit or Miss?

UK MUSIC: DUCHESS FT SCORCHER – ALL THE BOYZ

Check out new girl group Duchess and their single All The Boyz featuring Scorcher. ……………………… The song isn’t terrible, I’ve heard worse. And it could have done without Scorcher. Again not every song needs to feature a guest rapper. Most of the time the UK rappers (of the moment) just end up ruining an otherwise decent song with their awkward flows and lack of sex appeal. The video – It looks as if it was made in the early noughties and one []

UK MUSIC: TALAY RILEY FT SCORCHER – GOOD AS GOLD

Singer Talay Riley teams up with Grime artist Scorcher on the new single Good As Gold. Good As Gold is catchy and Talay has a decent voice. But he could have done without featuring Scorcher on the track. Not every song needs to feature a guest rapper/emcee. The video – Standard UK fare! Black ‘models’ denied close ups and pushed way to the back of the set,  and “Urban” music video directors showing the world that they lack originality and are still []

UK MUSIC: SCORCHER – IT’S MY TIME

UK rapper Scorcher says “it’s my time“.  We’ll see….. Check out his new single below… It’s My Time is a decent enough track and has the potential to become a mainstream hit.  It all depends on whether or not Radio 1 decides to rinse it to death. Actually they probably will because it features stage school kids singing their little hearts out. Everyone seems to shouting “Team UK” at the moment. However right now the team looks about as impressive as the []
