UK NEWS: ACTOR KWAME KWEI-ARMAH AWARDED OBE

Actor and playwright Kwame Kwei-Armah (born Ian Roberts) has been awarded a OBE (Order Of The British Empire) by Queen Elizabeth II for services to drama. He said the honour was a tribute to the “immigrant’s dream” that brought his parents to the UK from the West Indies. ACLT (African Caribbean Leukemia Trust) founder Beverley De Gale has been awarded an OBE, after launching a campaign in 1996 and working tirelessly since then to recruit bone marrow donors after her son Daniel De Gale developed leukaemia.
