The Metro Prisoners should be given sex toys to prevent homosexuality from spreading in Zimbabwe’s jails, a senator has said. Allowing inmates to satisfy their sexual appetites should be a priority if homosexuality – which is illegal in Zimbabwe – is to be curbed, senator Sithembile Mlotshwa said. ‘In other countries they provide sex gadgets and have constructed rooms where people go and service themselves when the desire arises,’ she told a parliamentary meeting on gender and development. Via BBC News A gay couple jailed in Malawi after getting engaged have been pardoned by President Bingu wa Mutharika. Mr Mutharika, speaking as UN chief Ban Ki-moon visited his country, said he had ordered their immediate release. Steven Monjeza and Tiwonge Chimbalanga were given 14-year jail terms earlier this month after being convicted of gross indecency and unnatural acts. Via BBC News A judge in Malawi has imposed a maximum sentence of 14 years in prison with hard labour on a gay couple convicted of gross indecency and unnatural acts. The judge said he wanted to protect the public from “people like you”.
