The National Geographic Channel takes viewers to the streets of South Central Los Angeles as it charts the rise of two of the most notorious gangs in America: the Bloods and the Crips.
BBC News reports that YouTube has removed removed dozens of videos promoting gang violence after a request from an east London council. Newham Council has created a special unit within its enforcement team to trace videos it believes could be used to recruit new gang members. Former gang member turned actor and film director Fredi Nwaka showcased his short film on gang life (If Only) in London at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (Bafta) earlier this month. Jamie Price (23), the son of music star Goldie, was jailed for life yesterday for the murder of rival gang member Marlon Morris. Price chased and stabbed to death an unarmed and disabled Morris, after leaving a nightclub in Wolverhampton in 2008. He must serve at least 21 years in prison.
