SINGER MARSHA AMBROSIUS SIGNS WITH J RECORDS

Soul Culture reports that UK songstress Marsha Ambrosius has signed a new deal with Sony/BMG distributed label J Records. The singer was previously signed to Dr Dre’s Aftermath label.   Congratulations Marsha. I hope it works out for her over at J Records and she finally manages to release her long-awaited debut album.

TLC group member Tionne Watkins aka T-Boz recently appeared on comedian/actress Mo’nique’s new show and recalls the time TLC threatened music mogul Clive Davis with a gun. The group sold millions of records and made the label $75 million, but they only received $50,000 each.     T-Boz, Chilli and Left Eye (RIP) later walked in to Arista Records and held Davis hostage while demanding to know the whereabouts of their ‘muthaf**kin money’. The music industry really did shaft TLC.

CLIVE DAVIS REPLACED BY BARRY WEISS AS BMG LABEL HEAD

Parent company Sony BMG announced the move Thursday (April 17th). The 74-year-old Davis will become chief creative officer of Sony BMG. Two other BMG executives also departed in the label shakeup.
