Former gang member turned actor and film director Fredi Nwaka showcased his short film on gang life (If Only) in London at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (Bafta) earlier this month. [Thanks Russ] In December of last year I posted a piece about the film and Fredi’s new organisation C.R.I.M.E (Creating Role Models In Media Enterprise), which works with ex offenders, gang members and troubled teens, and turns their stories into short films. Via The Metro Teen gang members are being given medical training so they can step in to save the victims of street stabbings. They will learn first aid from volunteer doctors and medical students who say teaching them to stem blood loss could save lives. This story cracked me up this morning. When will these publicists learn??? Surely they should know by now that if you send an email of complaint to a independently run blog/website then chances are this will happen…. Website Buzzfeed received an email from Beyonce’s seething publicist Yvette Noel-Schure kindly asking them to remove “unflattering” photographs taken of the star during her Super Bowl halftime performance on Sunday. Via BBC News MPs have approved legislation for same-sex marriage in England and Wales, despite the opposition of dozens of Conservative MPs. The Commons voted in favour of the The Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Bill, by 400 to 175, a majority of 225, at the end of a full day’s debate on the bill. Prime Minister David Cameron has described the move as “an important step forward” that strengthens society. About 140 Conservative MPs are thought to have voted against the plans. Continue […]

Andrew Mendoza (29) admitted to having sex with his neighbours horse and later went on to claim he was trying to impregnate the horse. The Texan told police: “I was at my house waiting for my girlfriend to call.
