The BBC has announced that they will create a team of reporters to cover the underreported African-Caribbean community.
This comes after it was reported earlier this year that the corporation planned to axe journalists who specialised in African and Caribbean news.
In a statement the BBC said:
“We are going to create a small team to cover the underreported African-Caribbean community; we are going to increase the number of political reporters and city correspondents across England to enhance local coverage and we are focusing our funding on original journalism through the big stories fund in Newsgathering and by providing extra money for Newsnight.”
Well done to those who spoke out, forcing the BBC to change their minds.
However I have a question, when they say “small team”… how small are we talking?
