The Voice reports that a Hackney based business man has been forced to change the name of his website faceBUSKS to myBUSKS, after social media monster Facebook threatened him with legal action.

Servais Louis (28) along with his business partner Jor’el Mitchell founded faceBUSKS in 2009. The website provides buskers with a global audience, allowing performers to upload videos and receive donations from viewers.

Zuckerberg and his henchmen allegedly first told them via email to change the website’s name or face legal action. Servais then later claims to have received a large box containing over 2,000 documents and DVDs about Facebook sent to his home address.

A shocked and intimidated Servais told The Voice,

“In the end I decided to change the name because, even if we had done nothing wrong and Facebook had no legal grounds to stand on, we are a young start-up and we were fighting against a giant with unlimited resources.”

He added,

“We now have our trademark, for the name and for ‘buskie’, which is like a selfie for buskers. We are also looking to collaboration with charities to raise £1m in a year.”

According to the newspaper the start-up is said to be valued at £200 million.

Facebook allegedly threatened Servais with legal action over the name faceBUSKS so he changed it. But the faceBUSKS website is still live.

And won’t Myspace have a problem with the new name myBUSKS?

I could be wrong but I have a sneaking suspicion that Servais made up this story to generate some publicity for his website. Also the start-up’s 200 million valuation claim just screams ‘BOGUS’.

And don’t get me started on the ‘collaboration with charities to raise £1million in a year’.
