I remember it being the last day of school before the summer holidays kicked off and a girl in my year brought in a pirate copy of House Party when it was first released in US cinemas in 1990. Films like this were not seeing release dates in British cinemas (this still hasn’t really changed) so we had to make do with pirate video.

There was a VHS video recorder and a television in the classroom that we were in and because it was the last day of school my history teacher gave us permission to watch it.

I loved the film back then and still do. I was also a Kid ‘n’ Play fan and had a HUGE crush on Play.

Then came along House Party 2 and 3 but nothing can beat the original.
