An illegal immigrant being deported to Jamaica tried to slash his own throat on board a plane at Gatwick airport, it is understood.
The man was taken to hospital with “superficial injuries” shortly after boarding a Virgin Atlantic flight which was about to take off.
A UK Border Agency spokesman said an investigation was being launched into the incident.

I feel sorry for the passengers and crew who were forced to witness this incident and are now stuck here because of the drama.
The man is probably now hoping that his selfish act will force the authorities to tear up his deportation order. If this is in fact the case then the fool can keep on dreaming.

I can’t go easy on him. What he did was selfish. If he wanted to stay in the country he should have gone through the proper channels and filed for an extension etc. I hear he didn’t even do that just over stayed his time hence deportation. Now he’s on Virgin Atlantic attempting to slash his throat like a fool, which caused passenger/crew distress.

Tried to slash his throat with what exactly? He couldn’t have tried to slash his throat with any of the plastic knives as they would have been handed out with the meals AFTER the plane had taken off. Somebody must have seen the instrument he used when passengers reported what had happened, what was it? He would have obviously had to go through rigourous security checks, especially as an immigrant, which would have picked up any weapons he had on him.
Yet another story I am finding hard to believe. I can just about get a small container of deodorant through security, yet this guy can somehow carry on board a instrument sharp enough to slash his throat with. I’m surprised that nobody has spotted the link that is being made here between black people and weapons. Lets see if any people actually come forward as witnesses or if this story will just disappear into the night, never to be heard of again. I suspect the latter.

i agree janice he could have have APPLIED AFOR AN EXTENSION … but the truth is a littlle bit more shallow…..
iv’e watched two sibling of mine never make it to this country because of the amount of red tape that can be dished out to get into this country. ( they are no longer alive now ). sometimes its next to impossible to get thru customs or be granted stay

I know all about the red tape and the long winded process people have to go through etc etc. But that still doesn’t change my opinion about this man.

I am not looking down on anyone Ty. But If this man didn’t even attempt to file for an extension, do things the correct way then I have no pity for him. And yes the process can be long winded but that’s no excuse. I refuse to support foolish antics.
But everybody is entitled to their opinion.
Don’t be surprised if it turns out that this man isn’t just some hard working individual who was just “hustling to try and stay in a place of more opportunity unofficially”.
