DJ Kool Herc
Several days ago DJ Premier announced on his radio show that Hip Hop pioneer DJ Kool Herc (real name Clive Campbell) “was very sick” and needed financial assistance, but provided no other information. Many, however assumed he was at death’s door due to Premier’s impassioned plea for donations. Click HERE to read more about this situation if you missed it.
Now the New York Daily News has revealed that Herc is suffering from kidney stones. If you wish to know more about kidney stones click HERE.
Herc’s sister, Cindy Campbell, told the publication,
“He’s been in terrible pain for months. The doctors say they’ve got to come out, but we just don’t have the money… it’s starting to affect his health and he’s on painkillers, which is no good. This needs to be dealt with soon

Just got the word from DJ Premier that I can take down the donations address and his bills are getting handled. More details remain unknown. Hopefully we can hear an official text by Kool Herc himself as soon as possible. I guess he had a lot of donations from all around us… Word.

its sad his family couldn’t put some change together in private and not reveal his financial mistakes and problems in his life to the world when it couldv’e been avoided, i refuse to believe his whole family to be that ghetto broke.

I totally agree with you! I respect that the man is a Hip Hop pioneer but I’ve been side eyeing this entire situation from the very beginning and I’m not the only one.
