“The New Cross Fire killed 13 young black people during a birthday party in a house in New Cross, Southeast London on Sunday January 18th, 1981 The party was a joint birthday celebration for Yvonne Ruddock and Angela Jackson and was held at 439 New Cross Road, going on throughout the night. There was a fairly high degree of racial tension in New Cross, as it was well known that the far right group the National Front were active in the area. […]

The Daily Mail has posted the photograph (below) today on their website and according to the “journalist” who wrote the article this is rapper Tinie Tempah. Click HERE to read article featuring Z-list reality TV stars. I guess to some we all do look a like. Hilarious! I have always found BBC Radio personality / Hip Hop DJ Tim “Big Dawg” Westwood funny, while others have accused him of being just damn right rude at times. But after watching this throwback interview from late 2008 where Westwood interviewed singer Craig David and fellow radio personality DJ Spoony, I now see exactly what they mean. There seemed to be a lot of animosity in the air. Craig looks visibly uncomfortable, Spoony is trying his hardest to remain professional, and when Westwood drags Reggae DJ Chris Goldfinger in to the mix […]

Via The Daily Mail A nightclub reveller who stabbed a rap star in the neck with a broken bottle was jailed for eight years today. Anthony Jones, 26, savagely attacked chart-topper Professor Green in the trendy Cargo nightclub in Shoreditch, east London. Last week I posted news about the Light Skin Verses Dark Skin party that is set to take place in Columbus, Ohio (USA) on the 21 January. Well today Media Quicky reports that the “most anticipated party of the year” has now been CANCELLED. According to the website the backlash was so fierce that the club and the promoters decided that it would be best to cancel. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! That’s the power of the Internet folks! [Thanks Yinka]

Yes folks! More lazy television coming our way. Mashonda (the former wife of producer Swizz Beatz) will appear in the new VH1 reality series, Love & Hip Hop, alongside rapper Jim Jones’ girlfriend Chrissy Lampkin and Fabolous’ girlfriend, who are two women waiting for their boyfriends to settle down. And recording artists Olivia (remember her?) and Somaya Reece showcase the sacrifices they have made to pursue their careers. Love & Hip Hop will premiere on the 21 March. …………………………………………………….. I bet Fabolous […]

While lurking over at The Lala Report I came across old footage of hit 90s R&B girl group Xscape performing on the brilliant BET show Teen Summit (sadly no longer with us). Judging by the fashion and hairstyles I’m guessing that this was filmed in either 1990 or 1991. Check out Kandi Burruss, LaTocha Scott, Tamika Scott, and Tameka “Tiny” Cottle-Harris before they hit the big time, and before rapper T.I turned Tiny fool.
