With the preparation for the World Cup in South Africa and the excitement of 17 African nations celebrating their 50th year of independence – all eyes are on Africa. For the first time in the UK, you can experience an authentic taste of modern day Africa right on your doorstep. For one long weekend in May (21st-24th), a 72-hour entertainment extravaganza with live performances by top African artists as well as engaging activities for all the family will bring a new zest of life to the UK’s favourite family holiday park, Camber Sands. From traditional and contemporary dance, comedy, independent film screenings, fashion shows and art exhibitions and theatre – there is something for everyone.
The African Promoters Alliance (APA) is committed to enlighten, entertain and inspire through the delivery of live performances, exhibitions, showcases and a variety of programmes. Seyi, Co-founder of the APA said, “This is an opportunity for us to celebrate and showcase the positive side of Africa”. As well as organising a communal hub with a line up of events, the APA will be donating proceeds from ticket sales to various charities with strong links to the African community including; AfriKids, Sickle Cell Society and Plan UK.
