Black Entertainment Television (B.E.T), America’s most popular black Television Network, is set to build a stronger relationship with Britain’s Gospel community with a planned media presentation to launch the acclaimed Celebration of Gospel on 5th February, at Odeon West End, Leicester Square, London WC2. Celebration of Gospel is one of BET’s flagship shows, and features performances from leading US gospel and mainstream artists. It was first broadcast in 2001, and since them has become the no 1 Gospel/Religious programme in the USA.
This year’s show was recorded in Los Angeles and features leading British Gospel group, Muyiwa and Riversongz. They will be present at the media presentation and share the platform with BET International, VP of Programming and Production; Ava Hall; Glen Yearwood BET UK strategist and Roy Francis facilitator for much of the represented Black majority churches.
Muyiwa and Riversongz are the first British artists to ever appear on Celebration of Gospel and performed on the show alongside gospel superstars Kirk Franklin, Donnie McClurkin and many others.
BET International also intend to use the press conference to launch Generation Gospel a new gospel show targeting 16 -25 year olds: 106 & Park Generation will have its premiere on the channel in the UK on February 8, 2009.BET is keen to build strong ties with Britain’s burgeoning black faith community. Glen Yearwood explained, “Britain’s black Christian community is a powerful force. The churches are amongst the largest in the UK, their leaders wield great influence and their church community are a great force for good.”
To demonstrate the seriousness of their plans, Ava Hall, will also meet with key opinion formers within the black Christian community to share BET’s plans and begin a dialogue with black church leaders. She said, “We want the meeting to co-incide with the debut screening of Celebration of Gospel featuring Muyiwa’s performance so as to celebrate this moment and to look forward to a greater working partnership between BET, the church and the gospel music community.”
“Britain’s black Christian community is a powerful force. The churches are amongst the largest in the UK, their leaders wield great influence”
… Yes Britain’s black christian community is a powerful force and it’s leaders sure do wield a great deal of power over their followers……………………………………………….
I hope this proves to be a successful partnership

Oh great
Hey why the negativity?
Lol…..
Doing exactly what the scriptures told us not to do, be unequally yoked with unbelievers and affiliating yourself with the world. Surely this is part of the great falling away of people from the faith talked about in 2 Thessalonians 2:2-4. As usual all in accordance with the scriptures, and to think certain folks were telling me to put the bible down.
@ verbs…. I do hear your point…but
“Doing exactly what the scriptures told us not to do, be unequally yoked with unbelievers and affiliating yourself with the world”
what about impacting and affecting the world, tis could be a great thing, if the church has some say about whats screened, or advises on programme idea’s???
etc etc..
If they are going to encourage black people to be successful and support them with their daily problems (practically), good luck to them. If they are going to do what i think they do best, i’m terrified. I’ll stick to my catholic church though.
I am sticking with my Anglican church. At least they don’t demand you hand over all your salary…
Exactly. One of the churches in Uganda have different baskets where by eg, one basket is for 5pounds, another 10, etc, nothing less than a fiver. I’m not telling lies, its for real. I’ll die in the catholic church that’s for sure.
@Fr…..
I hear what you are saying. The problem is the intentions always start off good but man’s heart always gets the better of him(Jeremiah 17:9) when the dollars start to roll in and he gets greedy. Jesus said “Freely ye have received, freely give”. Unfortunately it doesn’t quite work that way with these chieftains. Also the last time I checked BET stood for Booty Entertainment Television. Labelled rightly so too. Booty shaking coming to the church, well I suppose in some of these churches that would be nothing new however you can see where it is going. I also reckon that trojan horse called Hiphop would sneak into the mix there somewhere.
The church has done itself enough damage yoking itself to worldly schemes, I mean look, nobody takes the church seriously anymore because it has lost its authority due to compremise. This combo would be petrol meets the naked flame.
Have you heard of ‘every man for himself”? That’s always the agenda in the long run. they gather the sheep and later slaughter them.
I cannot argue with that either, this is precisely why God has declared war and judgement on these so called “shepherds”(Ezekiel 34). Their time for recompense is coming real soon. God also hasn’t excused the sheep who have decided to shutdown their brains and take every word that come out of these propheliars mouths for gospel. “Take my wallet pastor, make me feel good”.
You know what verbs, the sheep are never to blame, the shepherds are the poisonous snakes. I cannot even begin 2 imagine what this B.E.T thing is going to do. Either way, i’ll not be there. Verbs, you mean God is that ruthless?
God isn’t like man who will let men get away with anything and everything. This is the problem with man thesedays, there is no justice anywhere to be found in him so he expects God to be the same and hold the same corrupt, uneven balances. Not so, yes God will deal very harshly with the Creflo Dollars, TD Jakes, Benny Hinns, Morris Cerelos, Matthew Ashimilowos etc. Like you said, they have slain the sleep, so likewise will they be slain by the Almighty, and rightly so.
Oh dear. What have we got to look 4ward to in this world? I’ll stick 2 my life 4 sure. I know that God from somewhere verbs(OT). Ring any bells?
@Lati
See this is my point, everyone wants God to be some sort of softy and a pushover. They’ve destroy the lives of countless people as you’ve observed and in your view God giving them what they deserve is too much?! Where is your standard sir? Back to the O.T eh? I’m still waiting for you to give me an example of God’s merciless killing for his “chosen ones”, or was that comment just in vain?
By the way, it is that same O.T God who says he “has no pleasure in the death of the wicked”(Ezekiel 33:11). However being a just God he must punish wickedness especially when the person refuses to turn from that kind of lifestyle.
So Jan, i was thinking of going shopping today to get some new shoes…any recommendations?
lol
