UK MUSIC: SKEPTA FT MEGAMAN – WE BEGIN THINGS
…
“Black chicks, white chicks and the lighties” - Are “lighties” now considered a separate race within the black community?
Anyway Skepta has done a good job of recapturing the early So Solid vibe, sound and visuals alongside the group’s leader Megaman. So good in fact that at first I thought it was Megaman featuring Skepta.
I was a So Solid fan so I really like this track.
Your thoughts please. Hit or Miss?

UK EVENT: COMEDY ROAST – THE ROAST OF SO SOLID’S HARVEY
It’s rapper/actor Harvey’s turn to get a good roasting. This isn’t going to be pretty… (haha)

UK MUSIC: HARVEY FT CASH JAMES – ‘ESCAPE’
So Solid’s MC Harvey is back with the new single ‘Escape’ featuring Cash James.

Okay… the beat isn’t bad but the lyrics are WEAK ( who was still bussin the running man in ’95′???) and Cash James’ vocals just don’t sit well on the track.
Harvey it seems is also the latest UK “Urban” soul to jump on the rap electro bandwagon….
Your thoughts please. Hit or Miss?
UK MUSIC: SO SOLID STAR MEGA MAN DISSECTS THE UK “URBAN” MUSIC SCENE
So Solid star Mega Man sat down and shared his views on today’s UK “Urban” music scene and it’s artists.

Mega made some pretty good points. And I will always respect what So Solid achieved all those years ago. I’m only sorry it didn’t last.
However is the track playing in the background going to be Mega’s new single?
If so then…
NO COMMENT!
UK NEWS: SINGER LISA MAFFIA CRIES IN COURT

Via The Daily Mirror
Pop star Lisa Maffia broke down in court yesterday as she was banned and fined for drink-driving.
The former member of rap group So Solid Crew, which had a No1 hit with 21 Seconds in 2001, was pulled over in her Mercedes on her way home from a club.
The singer and TV presenter cried as West London magistrates heard she had drunk two glasses of champagne at a friend’s birthday party in Kensington before getting into her car in the early hours of April 26.
Maffia, a mother of one, offered to pay the fine and costs, which totalled £155, on the spot.
She was banned from driving for 12 months.
Well it could have been a lot worse Lisa……
UK BLACK MUSIC: ASHLEY WALTERS, HARVEY AND ROMEO – ‘EXCUSE ME’
UK BLACK MUSIC: THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY
A friend brought this track/video to my attention last week.
As most of you will know, I pledge my allegiance to the US Hip Hop/R&B flag and rarely pay much attention to the UK scene ( I know I should be a shamed of myself … lol), so I’m a little late posting this new collaboration from former So Solid group members, Ashley Walters, Harvey and Romeo.
In my opinion this track sounds dated. It sounds like something So Solid would have released back in ’2000/2001′ (in their heyday).
It’s almost as if they went back in to the vault, dusted off an old unreleased track and attempted to revamp it.
But in 2009 a track of this nature just sounds tired, weak and empty… at first. Then when you listen to it more than once, it starts to grow on you. The beat is actually quite catchy.
As for the video – Its standard UK fare! I say no more!
‘Excuse Me’ isn’t particularly good… it’s not particularly bad and its not ugly. I will therefore put it in to my ‘hmmmm… so so’ file.
Your thoughts please….
