UK MUSIC: SKEPTA FT MEGAMAN – WE BEGIN THINGS
…
“Black chicks, white chicks and the lighties” - Are “lighties” now considered a separate race within the black community?
Anyway Skepta has done a good job of recapturing the early So Solid vibe, sound and visuals alongside the group’s leader Megaman. So good in fact that at first I thought it was Megaman featuring Skepta.
I was a So Solid fan so I really like this track.

UK MUSIC: SKEPTA – CASTLES
I remember when they were looking for models to appear in this video via Twitter.
Anyway check out Skepta dressed like Hugh Hefner in the music promo for his latest single Castle.
…
The Track: Not bad.
The Video: Seeing all that smoke coming out of their mouths made me feel nauseous and now my chest hurts.

UK MUSIC: SKEPTA – YOU KNOW ME
…..
I can’t quite figure out if old Skepta here expects us to take this new track seriously or if it’s supposed to be a joke.
“Me and my black mates and some white niggas” and “Ah wha di bloodclart”
What is going on here????
Hahahahahahahaha.

UK MUSIC: SKEPTA – HOLD ON
Check out the new single from Skepta – Hold On.
…
The Single – I don’t mind the rapping/production but the hook just sounds cheesy. It actually makes me cringe.
The Video - The up and coming 2012 Olympics obviously inspired the director.

MUSIC INDUSTRY SKULL DUGGERY: JIMMY IOVINE, EMINEM, SKEPTA AND DMCA (DIGITAL MILLENNIUM COPYRIGHT ACT) ABUSE
Last week I posted the news that UK artist Skepta’s new single Dare To Dream had been removed from YouTube and passed on to golden boy Eminem by Interscope Records founder Jimmy Iovine (Click HERE to read all about it).
And since then it’s been revealed just how this all went down.
Website Torrent Freak writes,
After “Dare to Dream” was put up on YouTube one of its early listeners was Jimmy Iovine, founder of Interscope records. Recognizing quality, Iovine had plans in his mind for Skepta’s track so, with help from parent company Universal, they had YouTube remove the song on copyright grounds.
Armed with cash Interscope then approached Boy Better Known, a group and record label founded in 2005 by Skepta and the team behind Dare to Dream.
So that CRETIN Iovine arranged for the single to be removed from YouTube and they placed a fraudulent “copyright complaint” notice in its place without even having the decency to contact Skepta first with a request to buy the single. What would have happened if Skepta had refused to sell?
The sheer arrogance and blatant abuse of the DMCA vehicle by Iovine is just sickening.
This is why I wouldn’t last five minutes as an artist. I would be in prison right now. My crime - smashing an unscrupulous music executive’s face in.
Listen to Skepta Dare To Dream below.

UK MUSIC NEWS: SKEPTA HANDS OVER NEW SINGLE TO EMINEM
Several days ago UK artist Skepta announced on Twitter that his new single Dare To Dream had been passed on to Eminem.
Just got a f*%king CRAZY email. I don't know if I should be angry or privileged. This explains why the f*%k YouTube took 'Dare To Dream' off—
(@Skepta) July 14, 2011
Jimmy Iovine Interscope heard my new single 'Dare To Dream' and decided he wanted to sign it for Eminem hence Universal takin it off YouTube—
(@Skepta) July 14, 2011
I overly love the song but at the same time I do understand Eminem together with the 'Dare To Dream' chorus will be absolutely f*%king CRAZY—
(@Skepta) July 14, 2011
Being in an industry where money talks, everybody involved in the 'Dare To Dream' project came to a conclusion to sign it to Interscope..—
(@Skepta) July 14, 2011
So if you've already radio ripped my version of 'Dare To Dream' this will be the first time I say "WELL DONE" };) A new single coming soon..—
(@Skepta) July 14, 2011
……….
First off I don’t like that cretin Jimmy Iovine. I know what your about, I got your number sir!
Secondly it sounds like Skepta didn’t really want to hand over his new single, which was already receiving some radio play in the UK. It also sounds like Universal removed the single from YouTube without even informing him first, and he was bamboozled and hood winked in to agreeing to hand over the single to Iovine and Eminem.
Iovine and Eminem come knocking and people get ready to sell their souls and their briefs.
Anyway I hope Skepta and crew were paid handsomely for handing over Dare To Dream.
Check out his version below.
……………………………………….
I actually like the single. Skepta should have held on to it (that’s if he had a choice).
And why not release a UK version giving Skepta the opportunity to appear alongside Eminem on the track?
And Skepta you shouldn’t feel privileged, you should be furious. Acknowledge what’s really happened here.

Another ‘single’ launch party…they are organising launch parties for everything these days, and it’s not so long ago when launch events were private affairs.
AUDIO/UK MUSIC: DIDDY FT SKEPTA – HELLO GOOD MORNING ( GRIME REMIX)
I wondered what was going on with this much hyped remix.
Anyway UK artist Skepta’s Grime remix of Diddy’s/Dirty Money’s Hello Good Morning track premiered last night, and people are already behaving as if it’s the best thing since sliced bread.
I’ve never been a big fan of Grime but admittedly this remix isn’t bad. Skepta did a relatively decent job, and I like the way the girls from Dirty Money sing over the beat.
However the radio personalities who were wetting themselves with excitement didn’t need to keep rewinding the track. Once would have been enough.
Ha ha ha ha! People here just love that US co-sign.
Your thoughts please. Hit or Miss?
UK MUSIC: SKEPTA – RESCUE ME
Today I watched new afternoon BBC2 show No Hats No Trainers, and rapper Skepta was a main feature on the show.
He is an attractive man. I hadn’t really paid that much attention to him before, but that all changed today!
Anyway check out Skepta’s latest single Rescue Me which actually sounds pretty good.
It also has that mainstream appeal, and will probably go on to become his first UK number 1 single.
The video – Is he supposed to be in an insane asylum?
