Damon ‘Bruk Pocket’ Dash is back and has managed to find a way back in to the music industry.
Will his latest venture The Blakroc Project turn out to be a huge success? Who knows!
But Brukkers is trying!
He has also launched a new radio station called Magnet Radio. Visit Rhymes With Snitch for more info.
Poor old Brukkers Dash. He still hasn’t gotten over the Roc-A-Fella split.
And look at former Roc-A-Fella part owner Kareem ‘Biggs’ Burke [mark: 2.49]. When they were riding high on a crest of a wave he refused to speak/grant interviews. But since being shoved in to obscurity he has suddenly found his voice.
I had the misfortune of meeting Kareem once. WHAT a dick head! The man behaved and walked around as if his s**t didn’t stink!
Anyway, Dash is the ‘brains’ behind this documentary. But from what I hear it isn’t really about Jim Jones and more a vehicle for Dash, who is DESPERATE to get back in to music and film.
In this preview he talks about the Roc-A-Fella era, Jay-Z, Camron and Dipset/Diplomat Records. Stuff we’ve heard all before!
I have to say that I loved the Roc-A-Fella era, I liked Beanie Sigel, Camron, Freeway etc – I loved the music the attitude, and the image.
But this idea that Dipset/Diplomat Records had such a huge impact on Hip Hop has been grossly over-exaggerated throughout the years. I’m not saying they weren’t good as a group, but Dipset was no NWA, Public Enemy or 2 Live Crew and Diplomat Records was no Deathrow Records or Bad Boy.
The reality is that they were popular for a brief moment in time in the early 2000s (particularly in New York).
Damon ‘Bruk Pocket’ Dash has revealed to Billboard.com that blames his financial downfall on being overly generous.
“My mistake was watching everyone else’s careers and not watching mine. After being able to settle my wife’s company, I was able to start doing other things. My first approach was the music business and getting with Jim Jones… I spent the last six months doing research, trying to figure out how to use all my resources to blow this out (make his album a hit)”.
Right.. so the bad business investments post Roc-A-Fella Records/Roc-A-Wear, the frivolous spending and the flossin had nothing to do with his descent in to Bruksville???
Right.. OK Dame… we believe you….
Click here to read a brilliant article about Dame’s rise and fall.
‘Blow The Bank’ is the second release from Jim’s forthcoming album ‘Pray IV Reign’ which drops on March 24th.
My Jim Jim has done it again! This is one hell of a sexy track and Jim’s lyrical prowess will blow you all away.
The man really is a lyrical beast and gorgeous too!
This definetly has smash hit written all over it.
Your thoughts please…..
‘Check out my gaudy borrowed jewellery, and my expensive Gucci suit”.
26? I could have sworn Juelz was older.
And I bet the birthday bash takes place at Dame ‘Bruk Pocket’ Dash’s Plumm night club (which he apparently co-owns).
To date Plumm has failed to attract any A-listers through it’s doors.
Brukkers no longer has the magic touch.
[Thanks P Prez]
A music industry business manager has contacted SOHH.com and put Jim Jones’ dire financial situation on blast!
This is what he had to say…..
I read on the allhiphop.com rumor section that Jim Jones is getting sued by a team of producers who he jacked for his “Bad Santa” album. As a Manager for a producer who placed 4 tracks on this project and I can confirm this rumor as true.
I have been trying for months to resolve this situation with Koch, Chris Luck, Yandi Smith, and Jim’s lawyers. I was told by Jim’s team that they were waiting on E1/Koch to open up the budget and that everyone would receive their producer declarations and checks by the end of the January. Once February rolled around I remained very skeptical of the lies from Yandi Smith, Chris Luck, and Jim Jones, and that’s when Jim’s manager Yandi Smith and lawyers at Seldemeyer and Associates in a last ditch lie instructed me to contact E1/Koch in order to receive my producers check.
You’ll be surprised to know that upon contacting the E1/Koch financial department last week the truth was revealed. It turns out that E1/Koch had cut Jim Jones, Byrd Gang Records and Jones Family Productions, the whole lump sum check for the budget for this album months ago, in addition to checks for two future projects. This unidentified employee in the the E1/Koch financial department expressed to me that I am not the first, nor the last manager/lawyer to contact them regarding Jim’s misappropriation of budget checks designated for payments to producers and featured artists.
In fact under sworn secrecy I was divulged information that the IRS in looking into Jim for possible tax evasion due to his embezzling of these funds. This employee of E1/Koch as well as a source at Sony also informed me about Jim Jones’s current financial problems and possibility of bankruptcy resulting from his lack of income due to his debut Sony album being pushed back for a 2 years period, in addition to his extravagant buyout (It was rumored to be $10 million plus) he was forced to pay Cam’Ron in order to be released from his Dip Set contract and retain his Jim Jones Stage name.
I cannot believe that my Jim Jim might be broke! Say it ain’t so Jim…….
If this story is in fact true then I lay this squarely at Damon ‘Bruk Pocket’ Dash’s door. He is the jinx who has been advising Jim on business moves, and Dame’s current state of bruk pocketness has spread over to my Jim.
I just hope and pray that Jim manages to get his financial situation in order, so that we can go on that planned romantic trip to Hawaii.

THROWBACK SCENE OF THE DAY: DAMON DASH BLASTS FORMER PRESIDENT OF DEF JAM RECORDS KEVIN LILES (‘BACKSTAGE – THE HARD KNOCK LIFE TOUR DVD)
‘Backstage: The Hard Knock Life Tour’ chronicled Jay-Z’s 1999 ‘Hard Knock Life’ tour, which was the highest grossing Hip Hop tour to date during that period of time.
The documentary also included footage of DMX, Ja Rule, Irv Gotti, Method Man and Red Man and a behind the scenes look at what went in to organising the tour.
One of my favourite scenes from the documentary involves ole Bruk Pocket (Damon Dash) and the then President of Def Jam Records Kevin Liles.
Bruk Pocket rants and raves about tour jackets (in front of his then young son) while Kevin attempts to appease him but fails miserably.
Check it out…. lol…..
Kevin had the power to request that this scene be edited out of the final cut, but he decided to keep it in which shocked many. He was happy to showcase Dame’s ignorance.
In 2009 Kevin Liles is Executive Vice President of the Warner Music Group and Dame’s been pushed in to no man’s land.
I’m sure that if they really wanted to Kevin or Warner Music Group Chairman/CEO Lyor Cohen could throw Dame a life line by offering him an executive position (L.A Reid did it for Jermaine Dupri).
But I guess some people have really long memories……
I’ve said it before and I will say it again – GQ MAN OF THE YEAR 2009!!!! I am seriously thinking of starting an online petition calling for this to happen.
If I do I hope you all support me and Jim by signing the petition!
Ole Bruk Dash still seems to think he’s the voice of authority (smh). Give it up Bruk Pocket nobody’s paying you any mind. It’s all about my Jim Jim now.
Look at my Jim Jim all suited up, looking like an English aristocrat.
Doesn’t he look absolutely gorgeous????
Soak in the sexiness folks!
