CELEBRITIES TO ‘LIVE BELOW THE LINE’ WITH FOOD BUDGET OF $1.50 FOR 5 DAYS

The idea of Ben Affleck living on $1.50 a day sounds ridiculous, right? Maybe just as ridiculous as Hugh Jackman doing the same thing.

The “Argo” director-producer-star is the latest celebrity showing his support for the Global Poverty Project’s Live Below the Line campaign, a position Jackman initiated for the organization in 2011.

The Oscar winner took on the organization’s challenge to spend five days feeding himself on only $1.50 a day, which is the the U.S. equivalent of the extreme poverty line. He showed his support for the initiative on Twitter. Continue Reading….

How is this 5 day challenge going to benefit the lives of the millions living in poverty across the world?

During those 5 day’s will the housekeepers of these muti-millionaire celebrities go out and buy the food and will their personal chefs then prepare their meals?

After 5 days they will pat themselves on the back (a job well done) and go back to stuffing their faces with the finest foods. Those living in poverty don’t have this luxury.

If each celebrity announced that he/she was going to ‘Live Below the Line’ in a developing world nation among the poverty stricken for a year I might have taken this campaign/challenge seriously.

Your thoughts please….

Various news sources report that a letter addressed to President Barack Obama apparently containing ricin has been intercepted.

Via BBC News

Initial tests on the letter, identified at a remote facility, showed the presence of the lethal toxin.

The letter, which arrived at the facility on 16 April, is related to another laced with ricin intended for a US senator, the FBI said.

The FBI said there was “no indication of a connection” between the letters and Monday’s deadly attack on Boston.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) said the letters addressed to the president and Republican Senator Roger Wicker were both postmarked Memphis, Tennessee, and dated 8 April.

The letters read: “To see a wrong and not expose it, is to become a silent partner to its continuance,” according to US media citing intelligence sources.

They were reportedly signed: “I am KC and I approve this message.” Continue Reading….

Well whoever sent that letter will be dragged in soon to answer some serious questions.

MALAWI GOVERNMENT FALLS OUT OF LOVE WITH MADONNA

Madonna during a visit in Malawi

Well..well..well…. it sounds like Malawi’s “love affair” with Madonna has run its course.

When the multi-millionaire superstar visited the African nation some years ago, adopted two Malawian-born children, spoke of starting a charity (later called ‘Raising Malawi’) and then started to fund the building of schools in the region, the government were quick to roll out the red carpet (like her name was Queen Elizabeth II). But now BBC News reports that government officials have fallen out of love with Madge.

It is claimed that the star complained after she and her entourage were stripped of their VIP status on their way out of the country. The poor things then had to suffer the humiliation of lining up with other passengers at the airport and were frisked by security officials.

On Wednesday a harshly-worded statement was issued by the office of President Joyce Banda accusing Madonna of wanting Malawi “to be forever chained to the obligation of gratitude”.

“Granted, Madonna is a famed international musician. But that does not impose an injunction of obligation on any government under whose territory Madonna finds herself, including Malawi, to give her state treatment. Such treatment, even if she deserved it, is discretionary not obligatory.

It accused her of being “a musician who desperately thinks she must generate recognition by bullying state officials instead of playing decent music on the stage”.

It added: “Among the many things that Madonna needs to learn as a matter of urgency is the decency of telling the truth.

“For her to tell the whole world that she is building schools in Malawi when she has actually only contributed to the construction of classrooms is not compatible with manners of someone who thinks she deserves to be revered with state grandeur.”

In a statement to the BBC, Madonna’s manager Trevor Neilson accused the government of
financial mismanagement of school project funds, and of “harassing organisations
that Raising Malawi has donated to”. Neilson then went on to say, “Madonna is the largest individual philanthropist in Malawi. We will continue to fund programmes that support children in Malawi.”

Who didn’t see this coming?

KIM KARDASHIAN ALLEGEDLY DESCRIBES NIGERIA AS BEING A ‘DISGUSTING COUNTRY’ / BLACK MAN RESPONSIBLE FOR HOAX TWEET

The Voice reports that the extremely talented Kim Kardashian allegedly described Nigeria as being a “disgusting country and compared Nigerian women to apes in a private message to her sister, which was then accidentally sent to her millions of followers.

Kim

According to The Voice some are claiming that the message above ‘may have been ‘photo shopped’.

Earlier this year Kardashian flew in to Lagos to co-host for Dare Art Alade‘s “Love Like a Movie” Valentine concert. She was reportedly paid $500,000, appeared for 20 minutes and then left.

Why she was invited in the first place and to top it off allegedly paid so much money beggars disbelief. Dare Art Alade you are a FOOL and clearly have more money then damn sense.

However in response to the offensive message Kardashian later said:

“I see there is a photo shopped tweet floating around, supposedly  something I said about Nigeria. That was not me or my feelings”.

“The fake tweet is very disturbing and I will never ever tweet something like that,”

I believe you Kimmy.

UPDATE: Reader Vex In The City has informed me that a young black male Twitter user @chuckicheese is responsible for this ”prank”.

Sad.. sad..man

VIDEO: GANG MEMBERS TEAM UP WITH THE KLU KLUX KLAN

klan

Grape Street Crips of Memphis Tennessee and an Alabama Klu Klux Klan (KKK) group are working together to stop the KKK at a rally next month in Memphis after the Confederate parks in Memphis were renamed.

I came across this story yesterday and totally dismissed it because I thought it was just an outrageous rumour. No way could this be true.

Is the young black man being interviewed for real or is he an actor? Is this just a spoof news report?

I am still having trouble believing this madness. This does not make any sense.

Police say a Florida man was shot and wounded over the weekend by his dog.

Via NBC News

Gregory Dale Lanier, 35, of Frostproof, Fla., told police Saturday that he and his dog were in their truck in nearby Sebring when the dog kicked a gun that was on the truck’s floor.

Lanier wasn’t seriously injured, said Sebring Police Cmdr. Steve Carr, who then went on to say that police didn’t arrest the dog because the investigation was pending.

It wouldn’t surprise me if the police actually decide to charge the dog and then the dog is later released on bail.

Via BBC News

South African athlete Oscar Pistorius, who faces murder charges over the fatal shooting of his girlfriend, has been granted bail after a four-day hearing.

Magistrate Desmond Nair said the state had not made a case that he would flee, or that he had a violent character.

The Paralympic champion denies murder, saying he shot Reeva Steenkamp thinking she was an intruder at his home.

The next hearing in the case has been set for 4 June. Bail was set at 1m rand (£74,000; $113,000).

He was ordered to hand over his passport, avoid his home in Pretoria and report to a police station between 07:00 and 13:00 every Monday and Friday. Continue Reading….

Well… who didn’t see this coming?

After Pistorius’ defence team destroyed the credibility of the now former lead detective (Hilton Botha) on the case and it was also revealed that Botha faces allegations of attempted murder, it was over for the prosecution team.

Rest In Peace Reeva Steenkamp.
