Yesterday the New York City Police Department thought it would be a good idea to ask Twitter users to post pictures of themselves with officers using the hashtag #myNYPD.
There were a few photographs posted (like the one above) showing officers posing happily with citizens.
But then came the ugly face of the police force.
In response to the request other users decided to post photographs of officers engaging in police brutality and misconduct.
NYPD spokeswoman Deputy Chief Kim Y. Royster quickly defended the campaign and said:
“The NYPD is creating new ways to communicate effectively with the community. Twitter provides an open forum for an uncensored exchange and this is an open dialogue good for our city,”.
So does the NYPD now plan on addressing the issue of police brutality and misconduct Kim?
How did ‘New York’s Finest’ fail to not see this coming?
Right now I am guessing that the bright spark in the PR department who came up with this idea is busy looking for a new job.
French brand KOOKAI has announced that French Senegalese beauty blogger Fatou N’Diaye will front their Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter 2014 campaigns.

Dancehall star Vybz Kartel (real name Adidja Palmer) has been found guilty of murder.
Palmer and three of his four co-accused have been found guilty of the murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams marking the end to a keenly watched trial that has lasted for 65 days.
The eleven-member jury began deliberating at 3:45 p.m.
Initially, the eleven-member jury deliberated for 1 hour and 53 minutes before returning a 10-1 verdict.
They were sent back to reconsider because the verdict was not unanimous and was reached under two hours.
The jurors then went back to consider the matter before again returning to the courtroom.
Adidja Palmer – GUILTY
Shawn Campbell – GUILTY
Kahira Jones – GUILTY
Shane Williams – Not GUILTY
Andre St John – GUILTY
The convicts are to be sentenced on March 27.
Palmer’s lawyers say they will appeal verdict.
Well I would be lying if I said that this verdict has come as a surprise.
Last week rapper Busta Rhymes attended Palmer’s trial. The man has turned in to a complete idiot!
Rest In Peace Clive Williams.
This is just pure unadulterated FOOLISHNESS.
I have seen and heard it all now.

The president of France is to try to turn around his abysmal approval ratings by hiring an expert in gangsta rap music to write his speeches.
Francois Hollande has appointed Pierre-Yves Bocquet to help him spice up his speeches, which are widely considered to be boring.
A graduate of France’s top school for civil servants, Mr Bocquet is well qualified for the role. But it has emerged that he also leads a secret life as a rap music critic under the pseudonym Pierre Evil.
Formerly a social security project manager in Mr Hollande’s administration, Mr Bocquet is known among colleagues as a ‘meticulous and methodical’ technocrat.
But his fondness for thick, shiny rings nonetheless confused colleagues at the Elysée who knew nothing of his double life as a hip hop music critic. Continue Reading….
Pierre-Yves Bocquet has been reported as being an ‘authority on American rappers’. I need to see this Pierre-Yves Bocquet aka Pierre Evil.
Anyway wasn’t it the same Francois Hollande who while running for the presidency, released a campaign video which featured those twats Jay-Z and Kanye West’s hit single Niggas In Paris blaring in the background? Hmmmm yes I think it was.
Does Hollande really believe that incorporating American street slang in his speeches will help to win him more votes???
This is both bizarre and stupid France (if true).
And this message goes out to The Times who have also featured this story on their website. Public Enemy have NEVER been ‘gangsta rappers’, so please explain to me why you have featured a photograph of group members alongside the story?
Here are some words of advice for you..do your damn research idiots!
Will Smith and his son Jaden Smith have both won Razzie Awards for their efforts in the sci-fi film After Earth.
The father and son won three awards, Jaden Smith for worst actor, Will Smith for worst supporting actor and worst screen combo.
After Earth cost $130m (£78m) to make and was co-written by Will Smith and directed by M Night Shyamalan. The film only grossed $60m at the US and Canadian box office.
Jaden and Will did not attend the ceremony.
The Golden Raspberry Awards, called the Razzies for short, is an award ceremony in recognition of the worst in film. Founded by American copywriter and publicist John J. B. Wilson in 1980, the annual Razzie Awards ceremony in Los Angeles precedes the corresponding Academy Awards ceremony by one day. The term raspberry in the name is used in its irreverent sense, as in “blowing a raspberry”. The awards themselves are in the form of a “golfball-sized raspberry” which sits atop a Super 8 mm film reel, the whole of which is spray-painted gold.
Hahahahahahahaha – Oh dear!
The Razzies crack me up. I would love to attend a ceremony one day.
I still have not watched After Earth but judging from the clips that I have seen it just looks like one big old vanity project for the Smiths.
Apologies for the late posting of this bizarre story.
Football giant Lazio has threatened legal action against a Senegalese website which has claimed 17 year old player Joseph Marie Minala is actually 41 years old.
The club said in a statement:
‘Lazio denounce this latest attempt from hostile figures to throw a sinister light on this club. We reserve the right to take action against those responsible for the protection of the good name of the company and the footballer.’
Minala’s agent Diego Tavano told Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport:
“He had a difficult time growing up. Talk to him and you’ll see he’s a 17-year-old lad in every way.”
The Cameroonian star joined the Italian team last year and has done exceptionally well in the youth team under-20s championship. But Senego.net claims Minala confessed he was turning 42 this August and had lied about his age in order to send money home to his family in Cameroon. Minala’s childhood friends also claim that the player is a lot older.
In response to the allegations Minala said:
“I have read the alleged statements posted on the website in which it says I confessed my real age which was different to what was stated in my official documents. They are false statements attributed to me by people who do not know me.”
I am sorry but this does not look like a 17 year old. Compared to his team mates Minala looks like he could be their father and in his late thirties / early forties.
Did no one at Lazio question the legitimacy of his age when they first clapped eyes on him?
His agent says he had a ‘difficult time growing up’ which explains why he looks a lot older than his years. But I still find it hard to believe that this man was born in 1996.
You can be 17 years old and look mature for your age but not THAT mature.
This is a Nollywood film in the making….
Several weeks ago Madonna caused uproar after she called her Caucasian son Rocco Ritchie a ‘nigga’ on her Instagram page (Click here to read all about it).
The star was then later forced to apologise.
Last night the 55 year old (who is old enough to know better) rocked up to The Grammys red carpet with a gold grill in her mouth and her adopted black son David Banda in tow. Click here to watch them talking to E! host Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet.
Oh dear…. Now isn’t it odd that not long after ‘nigga gate’ Madonna suddenly decides to thrust David Banda even more in to the limelight by showing him off at the Grammys.
This has to be the most suspect and calculating publicity move ever.
*major side eye Madge*.
