The Associated Press reports that Chris Kelly from the hit 1990s Hip Hop duo Kriss Kross has died at the age of 34.

Chris died at an Atlanta hospital on Wednesday of an apparent drug overdose at his home, authorities said. No official cause of death has been determined, pending an autopsy.

Chris “Mac Daddy,” Kelly and his group mate, Chris “Daddy Mac” Smith, were  discovered by music producer Jermaine Dupri while performing at an  Atlanta shopping mall. Dupri signed the duo and they later went on to release their debut album, Totally Krossed Out, in  1992, when Kelly and Smith were 13 and 12 years old.

Kris Kross gained popularity among teens with their radio-friendly rap and trendsetting  style (they wore their clothing backwards), the album reached Number One in America and sold four million copies. Its lead single, “Jump,” topped the charts worldwide.

How weird, wasn’t LondonDiva who did a post on them like a couple of days ago ? What a coincidence! Anyway I am sad too, they were part of childhood memories. I remember seeing them on tV a few years ago, they were still doing music not together though. By the way Chris Smith still look exactly the same.

I didn’t do a post, I was tweaking the settings in my blog and for some strange reason it re-posted from 2011. I totally forgot about that.

    Such sad news.

Sad news indeed. There seems to be a problem with American celebs adjusting to life ‘after fame’.

It had been rumoured that these guys had been the victims of sexual abuse by the hands of Dupri in their earlier years. This could have been a possible trigger that lead towards drug abuse. I believe that Dupri had a hand in this death, regardless of whether direct or indirect.
