NO MORE KARDASHIANS PETITION – DEAR E!

November 15, 2011 10 comments

Oh dear!

An online petition has been set up calling for the E! network to cease airing the “reality” show Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

Dear E! Online,

We are respectfully requesting that your network find other shows to Air.

Keeping up with the Kardashians is just not viewing that we the public, would like to see from your network. Enough is enough. Click HERE to read more and to sign.

Every time I tune in to E! episodes of Keeping Up With The Kardashians are always on (back to back). And if its not that, then its Khloe & Lamar or Kourtney & Kim & Khloe take New York, Miami, Afghanistan and Timbuktoo. It’s neverending. E! has really gone to the dogs.

I am tired of seeing their mugs. Their scripted “reality” shows and don’t even get me started on that farce of a wedding. Really Kim? You are fooling no one!

Several years ago I never really had a problem with the Kardashians but now I just find them money grabbing, attention seeking and pretty distasteful (Kim in particular).

UK NEWS: STEPHEN LAWRENCE TRIAL – PROSECUTORS DETAIL NEW EVIDENCE THEY PLAN TO PRESENT

November 15, 2011 2 comments

The Stephen Lawrence trial started yesterday and today prosecutors revealed the new evidence that they plan to present during the trial.

Prosecutor Mark Ellison QC told the jury the case would be about textile fibres, and blood and hair on
clothing that was seized from the defendants in 1993.

Via The BBC

During his opening statement, Mr Ellison said that a cold case scientific team had re-examined forensic “tapings” of Gary Dobson’s jacket, looking for possible clothing fibre matches.

Scientists found 11 fibres that matched Stephen Lawrence’s clothing, and one appeared to include blood, he said.

And he went on to say that blood found in an evidence bag that originally held a jacket belonging to Mr Dobson appeared to match Mr Lawrence’s DNA, with a one in a billion chance that it did not belong to him.

The court also heard that two hairs were found in an evidence bag used to store Mr Norris’s jeans, one of which was 2mm long and was found to match Mr Lawrence’s DNA, and that this DNA profile was “assessed as being quite rare”.

And a total of seven fibres were also found on Mr Norris’s sweatshirt which potentially came from two items of Mr Lawrence’s clothes, the jury was told.

Mr Ellison said the blood stain found on Mr Dobson’s jacket would not have been detected in the 1990s because “the size was well below the minimal size capable of useful analysis”.

Stephen Lawrence was stabbed to death in a racially motivated attack at a bus stop in April 1993.

Nobody has been convicted of his murder.

Rest In Peace Stephen Lawrence.

UK NEWS: X-FACTOR CONTESTANT MISHA B’S ESTRANGED MOTHER BEGS FOR A REUNION

November 15, 2011 18 comments

Florence Bryan

The estranged mother of X-Factor contestant Misha B has crawled out of the wood work and written an “open letter” to the singer begging to be reunited.

Florence Bryan’s letter which has been published in Now Magazine *side-eye* says,

‘When I heard you say on The X Factor that you didn’t know your real mum, or why she abandoned you, I felt all the heartbreak from when I parted with you 19 years ago come flooding back.

‘It was the hardest decision of my life. As a mother I wanted the best for you, and at the time I felt I couldn’t give you what you deserved. I didn’t think it would be for ever and I was thankful to Lil for caring for you. I never thought that you’d call her your mum. I always wanted to play a big part in your life.’ Click HERE to read more…

Why did she feel the need to go via Now Magazine to tell Misha this? Why didn’t she just talk to her daughter face to face or send this letter DIRECTLY to her (she knows where Misha lives) before the X-Factor machine kicked in?

All I can do is laugh and shake my head. Yet another situation where an estranged family member just appears from out of the shadows looking for thirty pieces of silver and attention.

If she genuinely wants to reunite with Misha then fine. But if not - crawl back under your rock Florence.

The 7th Annual Screen Nations Awards 2011 (aka the black Oscars) took place last several weeks and below is footage from the event.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: ACTOR/RAPPER ASHLEY WALTERS (“I DON’T THINK THERE ARE ENOUGH STREET DRAMAS”)

November 13, 2011 13 comments

Ashley Walters

I think Channel 4 is so brave. They’re the only channel that put things on like that and doesn’t worry about what people think. It was a good show, a well acted drama. Why is it people always complain? It’s a TV show and we should have all supported it.”

“What upsets me so much is, as soon as something like this comes on, every black person in the country acts like there’s never been anything good. We just had Anuvahood, which did amazingly at the box office; we do a lot of refreshing things.

“I’m in a new drama where I play a good guy with a good job and a family. But if I were to play a gay man [which he did in the 2007 film, Waz] no one would care. I am an actor, not a politician. I am not out here to make moral stories for everyone all the time, that’s not my job. I’ve got four kids and I’ve got to pay my bills.”

There seems to be this attitude here in the UK within the black community that we all should just be grateful that black actors are working and have been cast in a drama that aired at 10pm on a terrestrial network, regardless of how they are being depicted on screen.

So basically black people just sit down, shut your mouths and be grateful to those forward thinking Channel 4 executives.

QUOTES OF THE DAY: ACTOR/RAPPER ARNOLD OCENG (AKA SNAKEY MAN)

In an interview with The Voice actor/rapper Arnold Oceng aka Snakey Man talks about industry racism and Devil worship.

You are a staunch anti racism campaigner and have worked with the charity Love Music Hate Racism. Have you ever been a victim of racism within the industry?

When I was on Grange Hill, there would be little jokes on set and they would come from people that you were working with.

I remember one of the cast members would drop jokes, like ‘don’t leave your phone around, Arnie will nick it’ and they all laughed and little things like that. I remember one time I was running on set and another character was like, ‘Arnie, where you running too, you stole something?’

They said these little things, but because I know they don’t mean it I just laughed it off, I know they don’t mean it maliciously. If it was now, I would bring it up. I’m at the age where I can voice my views, but when I was younger I would rather not go through any confrontation and just get along.

What was it like doing a modern day horror film?

I’ve never filmed a horror film before and then this year I filmed The Tapes and Demons Never Die, so it was really crazy. When we were filming The Tapes, we had to have a real devil worshipper on set, because they wanted it to look real.

The devil worshipper was teaching the actors chants and things. I will be honest, it was quite eerie. I know it sounds weird but the devil worshipper was the nicest devil worshipper I’ve met. She was really nice, offering to make tea and stuff!

Grange Hill – Even at the ripe old age of 24 does he still believe that his fellow cast members were not being malicious when they were cracking those Bernard Manning style ”jokes”. Those weren’t jokes! They looked at you, a young black boy and thought one thing - ’THIEF’.

Devil worship – They actually hired a real Devil worshipper to make the chanting scenes look authentic. Hmmmmm. I wouldn’t have even ventured on to the set that day. I’m surprised he agreed to star in the film.
