Emmerdale actor and E-lister Tarik Makarem who plays factory boss Nikhil Sharma in the soap told Dewsbury Magistrates Court that a ban would ‘damage the believabilitys’ of his character. He then added,

“A person who has a profession like mine, when they are put into public transport or public places, have a media persona that presents a number of difficult challenges.

“It has a dramatic effect health-wise I would say.”

Makarem who already had nine points on his licence when he was caught doing 49mph in a 40mph zone in Leeds was told by the judge, that three points would be added to his licence and he will be disqualified from driving for six months.

Tarik must think he is Johnny Depp. The man is delusional.

His role in Emmerdale isn’t a stand-out character so I doubt that his presence on public transport will turn many heads and cause mad hysteria.

More calls for FIFA President Sebb Blatter’s resignation…

QPR manager Neil Warnock believes that if every black player refused to play in the next round of international fixtures, that this would then force Sebb Blatter to resign.

Several weeks ago QPR owner Tony Fernandes said more or less the same thing as Blatter in regards to racism within football, and in response to John Terry “allegedly” hurling racial abuse at QPR player Anton Ferdinand during a match.  I don’t remember Neil Warnock saying anything then.

Anyway I think the situation with Blatter has opened up some much-needed dialogue and has dragged the issue of racism within football out from under the carpet at last!

But I believe that the ones who hold all the power in football down to the managers don’t really care about Blatter’s remarks. That’s not why they are passionately calling for his resignation . They are calling for his resignation because they are still bitter over England’s failed World Cup bid (losing out to countries with more money and more gangster – Qatar and Russia).

It would not surprise me if that is the real reason behind Warnock’s call for black players to boycott international games.

This latest episode involving Blatter is also being used as a distraction to take the attention off John Terry and the racism that runs rampant within the English game.

WELL, WELL, WELL…. former Liverpool star and England player John Barnes has shocked me today! Barnes tells The Telegraph that he is “not surprised’’ by the latest ugly racist incidents that have taken place within the world of  football because it reflects a society taking time to shed ingrained prejudices.

“People have been told for 400 years since slavery that black people aren’t as intelligent as white.

“White players always said to me: ‘You can call me ‘a white so and so’, I don’t mind’. But that’s because society has indoctrinated us over the past 400 years to think that that’s like saying ‘you handsome so and so’. That’s why white players aren’t offended. They’re empowered. Black people aren’t empowered; 99 per cent of black individuals would be offended being called ‘a black so and so’ because we’ve had 400 years of being dehumanised.

“We don’t know whether the allegations about John Terry and Luis Suárez are true. What we do know is that it’s happened before. The words they are alleged to have said have been said in the past year but it hasn’t been reported. Now and then there’s an incident and people are surprised. I’m not. I know it’s there.

I cannot believe that this has come from John Barnes, the same man who several years ago stood up and defended former football manager/TV pundit Ron Atkinson after he called footballer Marcel Desailly a “f**king lazy thick nigger”. 

I however agree with what John has said in The Telegraph article, he is spot on. But I also have a long memory and will NEVER forget him standing up and publicly defending Atkinson.

Actor, writer, director, BAFTA Award winner and Godfather of UK “Urban” film Noel Clarke today received an Honorary Doctorate Degree from The University of East London at the O2.

Judging by some of the tweets posted by over excited graduates anybody would have thought that Will Smith had flown in to attend the event (Hahaha).

I don’t really know what this Honorary Doctorate Degree is for or why he has been presented with one, but congratulations Dr Noel Clarke.

Levi Roots admitted in the High Court yesterday that he lied about the origins of his Reggae Reggae Sauce recipe.

In an interview with CNN FIFA President Sebb Blatter was asked if racism exists in football and he replied,

‘I would deny it. There is no racism, there is maybe one of the players towards another, he has a word or a gesture which is not the correct one, but also the one who is affected by that, he should say that this is a game. ‘We are in a game, and at the end of the game, we shake hands, and this can happen. On the field of play sometimes you say something that is not very correct, but then at the end of the game you have the next game where you can behave better.’

As you can imagine his ridiculous comments have caused OUTRAGE and has even forced premiership/England player Rio Ferdinand to speak out via Twitter.

Loads of people have commended Rio for speaking out publicly (myself included). When has a black/mixed race premiership footballer EVER spoken out so publicly about racism or confronted a major figure in the game on it? I will tell you when – NEVER! I was impressed and also in shock.

Then I remembered that old Sebb Blatter here is a hate figure within the realms of English football since England failed in its bid to host the World Cup and lost out to Russia and Qatar. Since then Blatter has been accused of corruption and there have been calls for his resignation.

Rio won’t face any backlash from his comments (I am sure he knows this which could explain why he decided to speak out on this occasion) because everyone within the FA (Football Association) the fans and media hate old fool Blatter and pray for his downfall.

It is therefore safe to confront Sebb.

Other high profile figures in football including QPR owner Tony Fernandes and  England manager Fabio Cappello have also gone on record to say that racism doesn’t exist in football amongst other things (2 weeks ago), but Rio didn’t say anything then.

When the press released pictures, obviously staged, of John Terry who is currently under investigation for “allegedly” racially abusing his brother Anton Ferdinand, laughing, joking and dancing with black players he didn’t say anything then.

Hmmmmm….

But hey perhaps I am being far too cynical and looking too deeply in to this situation.

Anyway, it is still good to see a high profile player speaking out for a change, and not one who has decided to speak out years later after retirement.

Last week I posted a review piece about the Top Boy debate that took place in Brixton (click HERE to read). In the piece I mentioned that there would no doubt be a second series and that the writer Ronan Bennett was probably sitting in a posh office somewhere working on the script.

Then some clown called Joseph_SW who I suspect is connected to Bennett left this comment in response to my remarks.

It’s really irresponsible to speculate that he’s at home working on a second series, maybe try getting some firm information so that you article actually has some substance and try using some vague journalistic skills!

Daniel Sturridge is dismayed to find himself at the centre of Chelsea‘s latest race row.Sportsmail exclusively revealed how the club will investigate allegations that Sturridge was racially abused by one of his own fans during the Champions League clash in Genk on November 1.

The inquiry was triggered by a complaint from a Chelsea executive club member that a fellow wealthy supporter had loudly called Sturridge a ‘monkey’.

Sturridge was said to be upset by the allegations. A source told Sportsmail: ‘Daniel and his family are not jumping for joy about the whole situation. How can they be? It is difficult for them to get their head round it at the moment.’ Continue Reading…

And if what the “source” says is true, that Sturridge just can’t get his head around this situation’ then the man is a born idiot.  Again is this yet another naive high profile black British individual who was/is under the illusion that racism in the UK  had disappeared for good???
