The party-loving son of Britain’s first black Cabinet minister was today convicted of sexually assaulting a woman after a night of West End clubbing.

Benjamin Boateng, 27, whose father is Lord Boateng, assaulted the 22-year-old after she had ‘passed out’ and was ‘dead to the world’ on the sofa on 19 August last year.

He was warned by Judge Fergus Mitchell at Kingston Crown Court that the charge carried a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.

Jurors heard that the former actor, who has appeared on The Bill and Grange Hill, has a caution for harassment from March last year but were not told that he was also accused of rape in 2006 when his father was Britain’s High Commissioner to South Africa.

He was accused of raping an 18-year-old girl in Cape Town after a New Year’s Eve party but was cleared by police after a ‘fast-track’ investigation.

But today he was convicted of assault by penetration as he attacked the woman in a London flat. Continue Reading….

Four-part channel 4 drama Top Boy which starts on Monday 31st October has been criticised by the mayor of Hackney Jules Pipe for perpetuating negative stereotypes of black people. Hackney council also banned filming of the drama on its council estates.

Jules Pipe said of the decision,

“Estates aren’t film sets – they are people’s homes. Hackney’s film office… considers whether the portrayal would have a detrimental effect on the  reputation of the area. In this case, it was not fair on residents… having their neighbourhood stigmatised on national television as riddled with drugs and gangs.”

Toyin Agbetu from the organisation Ligali said,

“There’s a lack of imagination. You don’t have to always portray the African community as drug-dealing, gun-toting  criminals… This isn’t the time to be going backwards and focusing on these  stereotypes. We don’t need to perpetuate more reasons for civil unrest; there  are many great stories that don’t need to focus on the boy in the hood.”

In response to the criticism Northern Irish novelist and screenwriter Ronan Bennett (who lived in Hackney for 25 years) said that the inspiration for the story came after seeing a child dealing drugs near his home.

“I was intrigued. Just a hundred metres from where I live you could be sitting drinking a latté in a café and just yards away youths could be talking about dealing drugs. The idea of two different worlds coexisting without either understanding the other, I thought, was something I should write about.”

The mayor of Hackney just wasn’t having it! Hahahahahaha. And Ronan’s response to the criticism gave me my biggest laugh of the day.

Anyway I do think it’s time we moved away from making dramas/films of this nature. How many more times will the same miserable dark stories be told featuring a one-dimensional representation of young black males?

I totally agree with Toyin Agbetu from Ligali when he says,  “there  are many great stories that don’t need to focus on the boy in the hood.”

John Terry

The BBC reports that football club QPR will look in to claims that Chelsea star/England captain John Terry racially abused fellow player Anton Ferdinand during the Chelsea v QPR game yesterday.

QPR officials will meet Ferdinand on Tuesday (24 October) and decide whether to proceed with a formal complaint.

There was online footage showing Terry “allegedly” calling Ferdinand a “f**king black c**t”,  but the FA (Football Association) instructed its minions to ensure that all footage was removed.

Terry said in a statement,

I’ve seen that there’s a lot of comments on the internet with regards to some video footage of me in today’s game.

“I’m disappointed that people have leapt to the wrong conclusions about the context of what I was seen to be saying to Anton Ferdinand. I thought Anton was
accusing me of using a racist slur against him. I responded aggressively, saying
that I never used that term.”

Terry added that Ferdinand had made no complaint and said the two remained on  good terms.

“I have known Anton for a long time and spoke to him about it after the game  and there was no problem between us,” the England captain added.

“I congratulated him on their win. He has not accused me of any wrongful remark. It was clear it was all a misunderstanding at the time.

This won’t go any further. Anton will face QPR management tomorrow and insist that ’it was nothing’, that he isn’t willing to take it any further and he ‘just wants to play football’.  A typical black British footballer response when it comes to racism within the sport.  They are scared and refuse to confront the issue.  So I say good luck to the fools.

During the Chelsea v QPR match earlier today, Chelsea star and England captain John Terry “allegedly” called QPR’s Anton Ferdinand a “black c**t”.

Well it looks like he said “black c**t” in the footage, but he will get away with it because Anton won’t take it any further, thus giving the FA (Football Association) licence to just sweep the incident under the carpet.

UPDATE: The FA (Football Association) have been busy little bees this morning! They have removed online footage of John Terry “allegedly” hurling racial abuse at Anton Ferdinand.

It looks like Peaches Geldof daughter of multi-millionaire Bob Geldof is at it again! Not content with “allegedly” stealing from trendy expensive boutiques in West London, the socialite/sometimes TV presenter has now turned her attention to high street stores.

Plain-clothed security at Boots on Regent Street saw Peaches casually stuff the cosmetics into her pockets and shopping bags before trying to leave the store without paying on Friday evening, it has been reported.

The 22-year-old was reportedly then taken to a back room where she was forced to hand back her stash, barred from the store and let go.

A customer who ­apparently witnessed the ordeal told the ­Sunday Mirror the TV presenter was ‘totally casual’. She added: ‘I noticed her browsing in the make-up aisle, just the normal ­cosmetics like Rimmel and L’Oreal.

‘I was really surprised to see her openly picking stuff up – foundation, ­mascara, eyeliner – and putting them in her coat pockets and in her Selfridges bag.

‘She looked around a bit but didn’t seem ­bothered, just dropped them in like it was a ­normal thing to do.’  Continue Reading…..

If this is true (and I have a feeling it is true) then Peaches should have been forced to do the walk of shame through the store handcuffed to a police officer. But because of who she is they let the loser get away with it.

Rapper T.I paid HOT 97 radio personalities Pete Rosenberg and Cipha Sounds a visit yesterday and discussed his decision to visit various night clubs in Atlanta (during BET Hip Hop Award weekend) after just being released from prison. Pete and Cipha publicly criticised the star but in this face to face interview seem desperate not to offend  their guest and Pete constantly tells T.I that he is “a smart dude”. Erm.. Really Pete??? JUST STOP!

Judging by his past behaviour and foolish antics I would say that this man is far from being smart!

And T.I is just his usual annoying self. Sitting there, trying to come across like Mr Intellect, sounding like he  just swallowed a dictionary before going on air and insisting that his home city of Atlanta had been “missing his presence”.

What a delusional little man.
