A London school’s ban of the cornrows hairstyle resulted in “unlawful, indirect racial discrimination”, the High Court has ruled.

Mr Justice Collins said the ban by St Gregory’s Catholic Science College in Harrow was not unlawful in itself, but should have taken into account individual pupils’ family traditions.

A 13-year-old boy, “SG”, was refused a place because of the hairstyle.

The school said it was “naturally disappointed” and may try to appeal.

“St Gregory’s is proud of its rich cultural and ethnic diversity and is run on the belief that everyone at the school is equal and made in the image of God,” it said in a statement. Continue Reading…

Katie Price watching a desperado audition yesterday.

You would think that network Sky Living would have realised by now that the public has grown tired of Katie Price and her foolish antics.

Auditions for her new “reality” TV vehicle Discovered By Katie Price (LOL), where she attempts to find a new ’top’ model, failed to generate much interest from the public in Westfield Shopping Centre yesterday.

She was probably prepared to fend off the advances of a legion of desperate wannabes at live auditions for her new reality show.

But Katie Price was left flummoxed when barely a handful of people turned up to try out for her latest TV show at the Westfield shopping centre in Shepherd’s Bush, London.

Aides had been expecting hundreds of wannabes to queue for a spot on her find-a-model programme, Discovered By Katie Price, and as a result had put up rows of crowd control barriers.

A witness told The Sun newspaper: ‘It was a disaster. She was on stage with her arms folded and a face like a slapped bottom.

‘Her people were trying to tempt shoppers to take part – most of whom would never have passed for a model in a million years.’

A spokesperson for Sky Living denied that they were disappointed with the level of attendance. Continue Reading….

On Wednesday night (15 June) Alicia Keys’ prestigious Keep A Child Alive Black Ball took place at London’s The Roundhouse. Jay Sean, Claire Forlani, Jesse Metcalfe and Wretch 32 were just a few of the celebrity attendees who came out to support the annual fundraiser in aid of raising awareness and money for victims of HIV/AIDS in Africa and India. With musical direction from Mark Ronson, the audience was treated to performances from Alicia Keys herself, Beth Ditto, Kyle Falconer, Tinie Tempah, Paloma Faith and Boy George.

A chilling note found in a car close to Joss Stone’s home allegedly contained details of a plan to ‘find a river to dump her in’.

The soul singer, who has an estimated £9million fortune, was apparently the target of a plot to attack and rob her.

Other handwritten notes found in the vehicle used the words ‘rob and kill, money in the safe, Joscelyn rob’, it was claimed.

Detectives probing the case also apparently found a Samurai sword, knives, a hammer, gloves and balaclavas in the small red vehicle which was parked close to the 24-year-old singer’s £500,000 Devon home.

Miss Stone, a good friend of Prince William, uses the gated house in Ashill, near Uffculme, as a UK base when she is not touring or working in the States.

Junior Bradshaw

Today Junior Bradshaw, 30, and Kevin Liverpool, 33, both from Manchester, were remanded in custody after appearing before Magistrates in Exeter accused of conspiracy to rob and cause grievous bodily harm.

The men, who spoke only to confirm their identities during the hearing, will next appear at Exeter Crown Court on July 1.

They arrived at the court casually dressed, Liverpool in a black T-shirt and Bradshaw, who had dreadlocks pulled into short pigtails, wearing a grey sweatshirt.

Two men from Manchester are being held on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and to rob after being arrested near the Devon home of singer Joss Stone.

The men, aged 33 and 30, were arrested after a suspicious vehicle was seen in the Cullompton area on Monday.

BBC South West Home Affairs Correspondent Simon Hall said a senior police source confirmed they were found with swords, forensic-style overalls and a body bag.

Miss Stone is aware of the arrests.

It has not been disclosed if she was at the property at the time.
