UK NEWS: RYAN GIGGS NAMED BY MP AS INJUNCTION FOOTBALLER

May 23, 2011 1 comment

Fottballer Ryan Giggs is alleged to have had an affair with Big Brother contestant Imogen Thomas

Thousands of pounds spent on securing this ridiculous super injunction. What a waste of money. Ryan Giggs probably wants to strangle his slippery lawyer right now, who knew that the footballer’s identity would be revealed at some point, and that taking out an injunction was a waste of time and money.

Via BBC News

A married footballer named on Twitter as having an injunction over an alleged affair with a reality TV star has been identified in Parliament as Ryan Giggs.

Lib Dem MP John Hemming named the player during an urgent Commons question on privacy orders.

Using parliamentary privilege to break the court order, he said it would not be practical to imprison the 75,000 Twitter users who had named the player.

The High Court has again ruled that the injunction should not be lifted.

It rejected two attempts on Monday to overturn the ban, the first after a Scottish paper named the footballer on Sunday, and the second after Mr Hemming’s action. Continue Reading….

UK NEWS: BENEFIT FRAUD CASE DELAYED FOR SUSPECT ‘TOO BIG TO FIT IN THE DOCK’

Beverley Johnson

Just when you think you’ve heard and seen it all… (shaking my head)

Via The Evening Standard

A “clinically obese” fraud suspect asked for her case to be postponed after complaining about the layout of an old fashioned courtroom.

Beverley Douglas, 43, claimed she could not climb the stairs to a narrow secure doorway into the dock of Court One at Inner London crown court to face 13 fraud charges.

She is accused of claiming thousands of pounds of state handouts while working as a bus driver and a CCTV officer.

As she sat outside the courtroom, Judge Roger Chapple agreed to adjourn the hearing so Douglas could appear in a more accessible dock at a later date.

Douglas, of Thornton Heath, faces 13 fraud charges between March 2004 and February 2009 relating to claims for income support from the Department of Work and Pensions, and housing and council tax benefit from Croydon council.
She was released on bail until July 7.

I can’t….. I just can’t…..
