Multi-award winning all-brother band Four Kornerz are to release their new single Superstar on Monday 2 May, 2011.
This is the band’s first officially release since their ground-breaking independent album release Soulectric (2007) which included the hit singles Clap Clap and Gonna Make It. This latest masterpiece from the London based-quartet dons the familiar leads from Deji, the eldest of the four brothers.
Known for their inspirational lyrics, Four Kornerz once again adopt the same stance but unusually from a female’s perspective. “The song was inspired by a lot of things. A large part of the story behind this song is based on the unrealistic body-type expectations mounted us in today’s popular culture,” says Deji. “The lyrics are more specific to women as I think the pressures on them are more extreme from things like size zero, cellulite and botox to perfect skin and teeth. However, both men and women can embrace the universal message in the song; Celebrating how awesome and wonderful you are!”
Superstar is produced by Scsi, part of the Four Kornerz production team, and draws influences from the Soul artists of the Motown era as well more modern chart toppers like Bruno Mars and Jamiroquai.
The band will feature the new song alongside sneak-peeks at other material from a forth-coming project at their first major London concert since 2007 on Wednesday 27 April 2011. Support will be from songstress Dionne Reid and popular Electro-Grime artist Guvna B. On the night, fans will also be given the opportunity to download a free exclusive Four Kornerz track.
Four Kornerz live in Concert takes place on Wednesday 27 April at 229 The Venue, 229 Great Portland Street, London W1W 5PN. Starts 7pm. Tickets £10 (+ booking fee) in advance, more on the door. For more information and to book tickets, visit: www.fourkornerz.com
The Metropolitan Police in conjunction with The Sun Newspaper have released a murder appeal video featuring footballer Rio Ferdinand.
The Sun newspaper are also offering a £10,000 reward in addition to the reward of up to £20,000 being offered by the Met police for information leading to the identification, arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the murder of Rio McFarlane.
Rio McFarlane, 18, was murdered on Monday 6 September 2010 in Dragon Road, SE15. At approx 21.30hrs nearby police officers heard a gunshot fired and diverted to investigate. On arrival they found Rio McFarlane, aged 18, suffering a gunshot wound. The ambulance service attended but Rio died from a single gunshot wound to the chest.
Like his namesake, Rio McFarlane was a promising young footballer from Peckham. He had no involvement in crime and police believe his murder may have been a case of mistaken identity.
Rio Ferdinand said: “I grew up in Peckham with Rio’s brother Anthony and have known the McFarlane family for many years, so I wanted to do something to help them get justice for Rio’s murder.
“I believe that the community can make a difference but it’s important for people to come forward and talk to police.”
“An innocent young mans life has been taken and the community can not allow this to happen again. My family and I ask you to please speak out and do what’s right.”
Detective Superintendent Gary Richardson from Trident said: “There are people out there who clearly know who committed this murder. Rio McFarlane was a decent young man and his life was cruelly taken away from him. Trident want people to come forward and talk. Share this YouTube clip with your friends and put it on your face book pages.
“We also want to make it clear there are special measures that we can take to protect your identity and have used these measures in many successful cases.”
Anyone with information is asked to call the incident room on 020 8247 4553; if you wish to remain anonymous please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
I hope this helps to find the murderous scum bags.

Up and coming film Southside is described as being “a fantasy “Urban” thriller”.
So from the looks of the trailer we have another UK “URBAN” film which depicts gangs, guns, bloodshed, chaos, and of course features a predominately black cast.
It’s time we moved away from making these types of films? It’s time we told a different story!
Anyway I’ve heard that this film might be submitted and featured at the Cannes Film Festival. That should be interesting.
