Super model Naomi Campbell accused the fashion industry of racism today as she urged designers to use more black models.
The 40-year-old from Streatham said the industry had taken a step backwards, as she collected a special honour at the British Fashion Awards.
She told the Evening Standard: “We’re all aware that we need to introduce more women [of colour]. Continue Reading…..
It’s good she’s speaking out but tell us something we don’t already know Naomi.
Did everybody think (including Naomi) that the situation would suddenly change after Vogue Italia decided in 2008 to do black models a favour and dedicated an entire issue (the one off ‘Black Issue’) to them?
Your thoughts please. Hit or Miss?
It’s “rapper” Nicki Minaj’s birthday today (who knew?) and BBC Radio star Tim “Big Dawg” Westwood, a long with her UK fans ( her “Barbz”) have taken time out from their busy schedules to wish the “star” a happy birthday.
Tim Westwood can go on pretending that he’s a huge Nicki fan but he doesn’t fool me. Typical industry antics. Endorse blatant fraff for the sake of it and to keep others happy.
Several days ago I posted a story about Welsh songstress Duffy. The story which was posted on the Digital Spy website ( the original source was The Daily Star), claimed that Duffy’s label A&M (a subsidiary of Universal Music) was closing its doors due to “disappointing sales” of her sophomore album Endlessly, which was only released LAST WEEK!
I wrote that I couldn’t understand why they would label her album a flop when it was only released last week, and the supposed closure of A&M Records due to her sales sounded exaggerated.
Anyway today I received an email from the A&M legal team who have informed me that,
“A&M Records has not closed and there are no plans to do so”, followed by “There was never any question of Duffy’s new album being released next year rather than this year, and her album has already sold half a million copies worldwide”.
Mad News would like to thank A&M for setting the record straight. There was major concern after the news hit the Internet.

Look at the state of it!
I hope this bully and dirty scum bag serves the entire prison sentence.

The husband of a woman murdered on her honeymoon has been arrested in the UK at the request of the South African authorities, police said.
Anni Dewani, 28, from Sweden, was shot after being kidnapped while in a taxi with her husband Shrien last month.
On Tuesday, taxi driver Zola Tongo told Western Cape High Court he was offered 15,000 rand (£1,400) by Shrien Dewani, 31, from Bristol, to kill his wife.
Mr Dewani was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to murder his wife.
He is due to appear before the City of Westminster magistrates later, the Metropolitan Police said.
Mr Dewani’s family have described the allegations as “totally ludicrous”.
Scotland Yard said Mr Dewani, from Westbury-on-Trym, had been arrested in the UK following an extradition request by prosecutors in South Africa. Continue Reading….
I watched Shrien Dewani’s PUBLICIST Max Clifford this morning on breakfast TV show Daybreak, standing outside his lavish home protesting his client’s innocence. I just shook my head in disgust.
I still cannot believe the man hired a publicist.
Hopefully what’s being hidden in the dark will eventually come out in to the light.
Rest In Peace Anni Dewani.
