NEW ARTIST: LEE

October 24, 2010 5 comments

Meet US singer, rapper, poet, bandleader and songwriter Lee, who is already being hailed as one of the most original artists on the current musical scene.

Lee is originally from Miami, where he co-founded and fronted the popular, award-winning alternative Hip-Hop band The Square Egg.

Today he performs with his own band and has created his own distinctive sound, which is an eclectic mix of Hip-Hop, R&B, Funk, with jazz soloists,  with elements of rock, classical music and spoken word.

VIDEO: BARACKA FLACKA FLAME – ‘HEAD OF STATE’

October 22, 2010 6 comments

This President Barack Obama parody has killed me tonight.

I tried my hardest not to laugh, but the comedian playing the Pres and the actresses drafted in to play Michelle Obama and Oprah Winfrey are just too much.

This is so wrong!

WARNING: IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED THEN PLEASE DO NOT CLICK ON PLAY.

Tha Vill

Up until this point I had never heard of Tha Vill but he is apparently famous in the US for his nu-tek production style, and has now teamed up with UK songstress Kele Le Roc on the dance track More Than Friends

The video was directed by actress Shannon Elizabeth who starred in Scary Movie and American Pie.

I have posted the original version and the remixed version – I prefer the remix.

MOBO AWARDS 2010 – GIGGS CHATS TO 1XTRA’S MAX

October 22, 2010 Leave a comment

UK rapper Giggs was interviewed before his surprise appearance on stage at the MOBO Awards (Music Of Black Origin) on Thursday night.

At the beginning of this footage it says ‘Giggs chats to Max’,  but it should actually say ’Max chats to Giggs’, because she’s the one doing most of the chatting.

I’ve come to the conclusion that Giggs is shy and a nervous wreck when being interviewed, which explains the one/two word answers.

I think his label should fly him over to the States and send him to media training boot camp ASAP.

MOBO AWARDS 2010 – TINCHY STRYDER, PROF GREEN, GIGGS, DEVLIN & TINIE TEMPAH – GAME OVER

October 21, 2010 2 comments

Most of you will know by now that I don’t have much time for rap/grime acts from these shores (bar a few) but this performance (believe it or not) was the only highlight (for soooooooo  many reasons ha ha) of an other wise uneventful and painful evening.

I would like to hear Jay-Z, Eminem, Fabolous and Kanye rapping over this beat.

Anyway your thoughts on the performance please. Hit or Miss?

UK NEWS: MOBO AWARDS 2010 – VIOLENCE BREAKS OUT AT AFTER PARTY

October 21, 2010 4 comments

The Daily Mail reports that violence broke out at the MOBO awards after-party last night (2oth October) in Liverpool.

“Celebrities” ( HA HA HA) such as Alex Gerrard, Calum Best and Wayne Rooney’s prostitute mistress Jennifer Thompson were in attendance when the party was shut down early  after what was described by police as a ‘large scale disorder’.

People just don’t know how to behave themselves. Why bother turning up to an event if you’re just going to behave like a blasted animal?

MOBO AWARDS 2010 – THE WINNERS

October 20, 2010 13 comments

Well the ‘highly anticipated’ MOBO Awards ended an hour ago, and they should never hold the event in Liverpool again.  The only time the audience showed any real enthusiasm was when premiership footballers ( I cannot remember his name) Tim Cahill and Tim Howard appeared on stage to present an award, and when Billy Ocean collected a lifetime achievement award. But other than that they were pretty mute.

US rapper Nelly performed his new single but surprisingly didn’t close the show (I thought he was supposed to be the headline act).

But anyway rapper Giggs who I was shocked to see and other UK acts (including Tinie Tempah,  Tinchy Stryder and Prof Green) closed the show.

As usual I caused offense via Twitter when I described the rest of the performance as ‘noise and a mess’.

I guess all future invitations to “A-list” industry events / 90s babies Grime conventions have now once again been revoked!

Ha ha ha!

But hey this is Mad News – Talkin reckless about the UK scene since 2008.
