Ha ha ha ha ha I LOVE IT!

So it’s official! Now EVERY chocolate covered singer/rapper with an American accent wants to work with the “nations sweet-heart”  Cheryl Cole!

The BBC reports that crooner Ne-Yo wants to collaborate with the fraud.

He said,

“We’ve been talking about doing some stuff together. Although nothing has happened so far, Cheryl is definitely on the list.”

Of Cole’s chances of success in the US, he said: “She’s gorgeous. She can sing. She can dance. I don’t see why she wouldn’t do well [in the US]

Oh Ne-Yo you’re killing me!

UK rapper Scorcher says “it’s my time“.  We’ll see…..

It’s My Time is a decent enough track and has the potential to become a mainstream hit.  It all depends on whether or not Radio 1 decides to rinse it to death. Actually they probably will because it features stage school kids singing their little hearts out.

Everyone seems to shouting “Team UK” at the moment. However right now the team looks about as impressive as the England football team.  But I pray this changes soon….

Well… I listened to Prince’s highly anticipated new album 20TEN yesterday….

The tracks sound like they were recorded back in 1985, rejected and then left to gather dust in a vault.

Fast forward 25 years later and Prince one day decides to unlock the vault, dusts off each track, changes the lyrics to suit the times and there you have it folks – 20TEN!!!

Perhaps Prince’s intention was to take us back to the old days with these new tracks, but the music he produced back in his heyday sounded a MILLION times better.

Prince is an absolute legend, but I can actually see why he allowed The Daily Mirror to give away this album for free.  It would have been a crime to charge people.

The "nations sweetheart" / convicted batterer of a toilet attendant Cheryl Cole

Last week it was announced that the ‘nation’s sweetheart”/convicted batterer of a toilet attendant Cheryl Cole, had collapsed during a fashion shoot and rushed to hospital. The ‘star’ had contracted malaria.

As you can imagine the nation held its breath!

But thankfully Saint Cheryl is now making good progress, on the road to recovery, and now one of her die-hard  fans Kirsty Fascione is appealing to us to help stop malaria by sending a £10 net to protect kids in honor of Cheryl.

Kirsty also informed the world via Twitter that she “just emailed a malaria charity to see if we would be able to start-up a fund in Cheryl’s name. They are going to get back to us asap x”.

A fund in Cheryl’s name…..

*Huge sigh*

Check out up and coming group (from East London) E.L and their debut single Throw It Back.

The  group consists of two main rappers and a DJ. The front man of the group is known as Pteezy while the rapper known as T is the mysterious artist of the group (you will soon see why…….)

I can see the 14-16 year old female demographic grooving to this party track. It has mainstream appeal to a certain extent.

But I also think the production etc sounds quite dated.

The video – It’s a party track so predictable video treatment…..nightclub, attractive women, group of women dancing slightly out of synch, flossing, and bottles of champagne. UK video directors need to do better. Sitting at home and watching old Jay-Z videos (circa 1998) for “inspiration” will not wash in 2010.

The mysterious artist of the group should get rid of the mask. It proves to be a distraction and looks ridiculous. GET RID OF IT!

But there is one thing that I like about this video. Unlike most Black British male acts videos,  E.L’s video features different types of women. They haven’t just gone with the  one “acceptable” look.

The manager of Reggae artist Mavado has revealed that singer/rapper Drake has donated (US) $25,000 (JA$2.15 million) to help Mavado build a Learning Centre in his hometown, Cassava Piece (Kingston).  Click HERE to read more.

This Learning Centre will be a positive thing for the community IF Mavado sticks to the plan and ensures it’s built.  If not then that’s Drake’s $25k gone down the drain or worse .. into somebody elses pockets.

News just in – Hollywood’s largest agency, William Morris Endeavor Entertainment has dropped Gibson.

Mary J Blige

 Earlier this week it was reported that singer Mary J Blige announced that she had passed her G.E.D ( High School Equivalency Diploma) and had been accepted in to Howard University.   

I refused to post this news at the time because I thought it sounded a bit fishy, and it turns out that I wasn’t the only one who thought the story sounded a bit suspect. 

Various media outlets contacted the university and a rep later clarified that Mary “hadn’t yet been accepted as a student”  adding,

“We encourage Ms. Blige to continue her studies and welcome her consideration of Howard University in the future. We are happy to work with Ms. Blige on completing the formal process for admission.” 

Mary then posted this response via Twitter, 

Mary’s rep has now told US Magazine that “Howard University came to her and expressed interest in having her as a student but she will not be attending,”. 

The confusion started after the singer told  the Times-Picayune, “I just received my high school diploma yesterday (Monday). The city of New York gave me my high school diploma … and now Howard University has accepted me.”

How embarrassing! 

This is what I think happened…. 

Some star struck fool from within Howard’s administrative department (probably the top dog) visited Mary, told her that she had been accepted, and then planned on fast tracking her application, so she could bypass the formal process of admission.

But the plan to accept /later admit a superstar in to the University (good publicity for the institution) backfired after Mary told the world she had been accepted.

Due to the media attention, university officials have now changed their minds, which leaves Mary looking like a liar.

I like the track and LOVE LOVE LOVE the video.

Gold Dust will be officially be released on August 1st.
