DIDDY BACKS ‘UK HIP HOP INVASION’

June 14, 2010 3 comments

Sean 'Diddy' Combs

The BBC News website reports that Sean Combs aka Puff Daddy aka Puffy aka Puff aka P Diddy aka Diddy aka Papa Diddy Pop, has expressed admiration for today’s ‘UK Hip Hop scene’.

The star believes that British Hip Hop is “on the verge of breaking into the US charts”, and added,

“I’ve always been abreast and respected the UK Hip-Hop scene and I look forward to great things,”

(saying this in a broad Jamaican accent) –  STOP LIE!!!!!

But I would love to know the names of the artists that he admires within the UK Hip Hop scene. If we are talking about the usual mediocre mainstream suspects who currently reign supreme in the UK charts, then old man Diddy needs to be guided in to the right direction.  ASAP!!!

 Anyway….

Tinie Tempeh is the only one who stands a decent chance of breaking into the US charts, only because his tracks so far have been well produced. Other than that I think his lyrics will go down like a lead balloon over there.  They don’t want to hear about chocolate biscuits.

MAN FORCED TO MARRY COW FAINTS AT WEDDING

June 14, 2010 14 comments

18-year-old Ngurah Alit was forced to marry a cow after he was spotted naked standing behind the animal, in a Bali paddy field.

Alit claimed the cow was a young and beautiful woman and that she had seduced him with flattering comments.

Detik.com reports that the teenager was then forced to marry the cow to cleanse the village of  the beastility, but passed out during the ‘ceremony’.

The cow was then drowned in the sea as part of the Pecaruan ritual, and Alit was only symbolically drowned and bathed on the beach.

Chief Ida Bagus Legawa declared that the village had then been ‘cleansed’ from the ‘defilement from the incident.’

UK MUSIC: FRIXION FEATURING FDM – ‘AFRAID’

June 11, 2010 8 comments

New group Frixion have teamed up with FDM (aka Fun*dmental) on their debut single Afraid.

I really like this song and it’s good to see FDM back on the scene.

It’s strange this is Frixion’s debut single but FDM almost steal the show.

But the groups do sound good together and I think Afraid will go on to become a hit single.

Release Date: July 26th

Nelson Mandela with great-granddaughter Zenani

Nelson Mandela’s great-granddaughter Zenani Mandela was killed in a car crash yesterday.

The 13 year old was on the way home from the World Cup kick off concert when the accident happened.

Johannesburg Metro police spokeswoman Edna Mamonyane disclosed that the driver of the car had been arrested and charged with drunk driving.

A spokesperson from The Nelson Mandela Foundation said in a statement that, Nelson Mandela would not attend Friday’s World Cup opening ceremony and game in Johannesburg.

Mandela and his family were “torn up” by the accident, the foundation added.

It’s been also reported that Nelson’s former wife Winnie Mandela was treated for shock at a hospital after being informed of the accident and the death of her great-granddaughter.

She has since been discharged.

Rest In Peace Zenani Mandela

QUOTE OF THE DAY: JERMAIN DEFOE

June 10, 2010 4 comments

Footballer Jermain Defoe is a clown!

I am a bit of a control freak. If I get married, my wife isn’t going out. No way. She’s staying at home. She’s not going out to clubs without me. I’ve already decided the rules, whoever she is. [The Sunday Mirror Magazine - Celebs On Sunday]

Click HERE to read the full interview.

I wonder if Jermain was actually being serious when he said this….

Then again it might explain why none of his ‘relationships’ stand the test of time, because the women he tends to go for are far from the ’stay at home’ types.

UK MUSIC: ORIE – ‘ZONIN’ / ‘FLY WITH ME’

June 9, 2010 8 comments

UK artist Orie has just released the videos to his  singles  Zonin and Fly With Me.

Check it out below.

The intro goes on for too long and the vocals sound slightly off-key and shaky, but perhaps this was done deliberately for effect???

However this is the type of dance track that will probably get some air play in other parts of Europe.

The video -  I don’t really understand it, but that’s one interesting looking blond chick.

GLAMOUR MAGAZINE AWARDS 2010 – THE WINNERS LIST

June 9, 2010 7 comments

Last night (June 8th) Glamour Magazine held their pointless awards ceremony in London, and I thought I would share the hilarious winners list with you all.

*Note: Glamour editorial staff claim that their readers voted for the winners below*.

Via Punchbowl Blog

2010 Glamour Awards!

Radio Personality of the Year – Fearne Cotton  – They cannot be serious.

UK TV Actress of the Year – Billie Piper – Glamour staff members obviously don’t watch good television.

Accessory Designer of the YearEmma Hill – Never heard of her.

Band of the Year – Florence and The Machine – It’s possible that their readers voted for this band.

Entrepreneur of the Year – Nicole Richie – Erm.. what does Nicole do to earn a living these days?

Comedy Actress of the Year – Ruth Jones – Never heard of her.

Filmmaker of the Year – Sam Taylor-Wood -  This reaks of being the ‘Editor’s Choice’

Presenter of the Year – Christine Bleakley – Absolute rubbish!  But it’s amazing what can happen to a girl’s career while she dates a England/Premiership football player (Frank Lampard).

Writer of the Year – Sarah Waters – Never heard of her.

Sheer Infusion Newcomer – Alexandra Burke - Right…. Okay…

Sportswoman of the Year – Amy Williams – Never heard of her.

Editors Special Award – Anna Kendrick – Never heard of her.

Solo Artist of the Year – Lily Allen – They hand out awards to posh girl (“but I’m down with the streets”) Allen practically  every year. Is she slipping them money under the table?

Film Actress of the Year – Zoe Saldana – I haven’t seen Avatar or Death At A Funeral.

Woman of the Year – Cheryl ColeThis win has already been discussed.

US TV Actress of the Year – Lea Michele – She stars in Glee right?

TV Personality of the Year – Dannii Minogue – I like Dannii but Personality of the Year? I don’t think so.

Fashion Designer of the Year – Isabel Marant – Never heard of her.

Outstanding Contribution – Yoko Ono - What has Yoko Ono done apart from marry a Beatle (RIP John Lennon), and walk around looking mournful for the past 30 years dressed in black?

Man of the Year – Aaron Johnson – Never heard of him.

Each year Glamour spends a huge amount of money (they take their shindig seriously) hosting this nonsense and not one media outlet comments on the increasingly RIDICULOUS winners list and just the sheer pointlessness of this event.

Oh dear! There goes my invitation to the 2011 awards ceremony.

:D
