UK MUSIC: ANGHA FT DELE – FOR YOU
Check out British Hip Hop duo Angha and their debut single For You, featuring Dele.
For You is a well produced track, but it sounds very familiar, and has that late 90s / early noughties American R&B/Hip Hop saccharine sweat fusion going on.
It actually reminds me of Jennifer Lopez’s 2001 hit featuring Nas, I’m Gonna Be Alright. Click HERE to watch. And for some reason Ja Rule’s 2004 track New York. Click HERE to watch.
Duo Angha sound okay, but for me it’s featured artist Dele who really stands out.
I also feel that the track would have worked better had it just featured his singing vocals and no rapping.
For You is released on the 31st May.

DEATHS AS ISRAELI FORCES STORM GAZA SHIP
Via BBC News
More than 10 people have been killed after Israeli commandos stormed a convoy of ships carrying aid to the Gaza Strip, the Israeli army says.
Armed forces boarded the largest vessel overnight, clashing with some of the 500 people on board.
It happened about 40 miles (64 km) out to sea, in international waters.
Israel says its soldiers were shot at and attacked with weapons; the activists say Israeli troops came on board shooting.
There has been widespread condemnation of the violence, with several countries summoning the Israeli ambassadors serving there. Continue Reading….
I wonder where America stands on this….
Today microblogging site Twitter has been accused of censoring discussions about this incident.
Then when I tuned in to morning talk show The Wright Stuff (Channel Five), the panel chose their words carefully when discussing the situation.
And on ITV News a British politician was quickly shut down mid-sentence when she condemned Israel’s actions.
I think we all know who controls the media, so none of this should come as a surprise.
Anyway mark my words this will all be eventually swept under the carpet.
May those who lost their lives Rest In Peace.

GERMANY WINS EUROVISION SONG CONTEST / UK COMES LAST
The cheesy but watchable Eurovision Song Contest took place last night and Germany won, while the United Kingdom only scored 10 points and came in last.
Via BBC News
Germany has emerged triumphant at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest as the UK limped home in last place.
Teenager Josh Dubovie, representing the UK with a song penned by Pete Waterman, scored just 10 points.
Speaking after her win, 19-year-old Lena, who scored 246 points with her song Satellite, said: “I’m so happy and so thankful and so grateful.”
Acts from 25 countries took to the stage during the event, hoping to impress voters from across Europe. Continue Reading…
I really don’t understand why they invited Pete Waterman on board to write the song. The song sounded like something that would have been released back in his songwriting heyday (late 80s) alongside song writing partners Stock and Aitken.
Back then That Sounds Good To Me would have stormed the UK single chart. But we are now in 2010 Pete!!!
It wouldn’t surprise me if he went back in to the Stock, Aitken and Waterman vault, picked this track, dusted it off and presented it to poor Josh Dubovie as being something fresh and new.
Awful.
The winning song (below) was awful too. Why is she singing like Kate Nash / Lilly Allen?
MALAWI PARDONS JAILED GAY COUPLE
Via BBC News
A gay couple jailed in Malawi after getting engaged have been pardoned by President Bingu wa Mutharika.
Mr Mutharika, speaking as UN chief Ban Ki-moon visited his country, said he had ordered their immediate release.
Steven Monjeza and Tiwonge Chimbalanga were given 14-year jail terms earlier this month after being convicted of gross indecency and unnatural acts.
The case has sparked international condemnation and a debate about homosexuality in the country. Continue Reading….
Aid donors put pressure on the government to free the pair.
“Free them or we will stop sending aid” – Hmmmm I saw that coming….
Still, I didn’t think the sentence was fair and I’m happy to hear that the couple will be freed soon.
But I don’t understand why they decided to openly throw an engagement party in a country that fiercely opposes homosexuality and dishes out severe punishments.
What was the thinking behind that?
