UK NEWS: ETHNIC MINORITY STAFF PAID 10% LESS THAN WHITE WORKERS AT TREVOR PHILLIPS EQUALITY WATCHDOG

January 31, 2010 3 comments

Oh the shame Trevor!

Via The Mail Online

The Government’s controversial equality watchdog was last night accused of ‘rank hypocrisy’ for flouting its own policies on fair pay.

The Equality and Human Rights Commission has angered business leaders by ordering a crackdown on hard-pressed companies that fail to pay the same rates to employees doing similar work.

But official figures show that more than two years after it was set up to stamp out discrimination, the commission is paying its own ethnic minority workers almost ten per cent less than white staff – an embarrassment for its black chairman Trevor Phillips. Continue Reading….

All I can do right now is laugh! This foolishness could only happen in the UK.

What a joke!

TEN AMERICAN CHRISTIANS ARRESTED TRYING TO TAKE 33 CHILDREN OUT OF HAITI

January 31, 2010 18 comments

American citizens pose for a photo at police headquarters in Port-au-Princ. In the front row from left to right are Carla Thompson, 53, of Meridien, Idaho, Laura Silsby, 40, of Boise, Idaho, Nicole Lark Ford, 18, of Middleton, Idaho, and in the back row left to right are Steve McMullen, 56, of Twin Falls, Idaho, Jim Allen, 47, of Amarillo, Texas, Silas Thompson, 19, of Twin Falls, Idaho, Paul Thompson, 43, and Drew Culborth, 34, of Topeka, Kansas

A group of 10 American Baptists were being held in the Haitian capital today after trying take 33 children out of the country.

The church group, most of them from Idaho, allegedly lacked the proper documents when they were arrested on Friday night in a bus along with children from 2 months to 12 years old who had survived the catastrophic earthquake.

The group say they were setting up an orphanage across the border in the Dominican Republic.

‘In this chaos the government is in right now we were just trying to do the right thing,’ the group’s spokeswoman, Laura Silsby, told reporters at the judicial police headquarters in the capital, where the Americans were being held pending a Monday hearing before a judge.

The Baptists’ ‘Haitian Orphan Rescue Mission’ was described as an effort to save abandoned, traumatised children.

Their plan was to scoop up 100 youngsters and take them by bus to a 45-room hotel at Cabarete, a beach resort in the Dominican Republic, that they were converting into an orphanage.

Whether they realised it or not, these Americans – the first known to be taken into custody since the January 12 quake – put themselves in the middle of a firestorm in Haiti.  Continue Reading….

Did these fools actually think it would be OK to take those children and stick them in an orphanage across the border without the appropriate documentation???

Plus the children who they attempted to smuggle out of the country, may have relatives who are desperately trying to find them.

As far as I am concerned these so-called “christians” are nothing but vultures swooping in to Haiti preying on the weak and distressed,  particularly children.

Right now the children of Haiti are vulnerable to being preyed upon by child traffickers and paedophiles.

It’s been reported that US troops have beefed up security at the docks after reports children were being smuggled out to sea.

It has also been reported that UN teams are currently racing to find children being preyed on.

A Unicef spokesperson said, “As well as the health concerns and malnutrition concerns, we are now concerned unaccompanied children will be exploited by unscrupulous people who may wish to traffic them for adoption, the sex trade or domestic servitude.”

UK MUSIC NEWS: POP SINGER DAISY DARES YOU DENIES DISLIKING GRIME MUSIC

January 29, 2010 Leave a comment

Pop singer Daisy Dares You

Chipmunk

Several weeks ago I posted the news that 16 year old Pop singer Daisy Dares You had admitted to not being a fan of Grime music. Click here to read if you missed it.

I originally spotted the story over at Digital Spy, and it caught my attention because young Daisy here had “allegedly” told BBC Newsbeat that she wasn’t a fan of the genre, but still collaborated with Chipmunk (who was once considered Grime… I’m not sure if he still is now) on her debut single Number One Enemy.

It  sounded as if she/the label had just used Chippy to guarantee a hit debut record, and the collaboration was even described as being “Grime-Pop”, which cracked me up.

Anyway while surfing the Internet Daisy came across the story and posted this on her Myspace blog…

“Just been online and read a site saying I hate grime and Chipmunk. I wanted to say I was definitely misquoted and never said I hate grime or Chip.

“Chip and I know each other well enough for him to know my music tastes are broad. If I didn’t like or appreciate grime, why would I collaborate with him?? What the f***k do people think they are doing?

“I’m so angry that has been said. We are going on tour together, I think Chip’s great and I love what he’s done to my track. Sorry if this misquote has offended anyone. All music is good music.”

Ha ha ha!

Damage control at it’s finest!

Hold on a minute! This girl is 16 years old not 25!!!!

UK MUSIC: CRAIG DAVID – ONE MORE LIE (STANDING IN THE SHADOWS OF LOVE)

January 28, 2010 2 comments

When Craig David first hit the scene back in ’99′ I immediately became a fan and loved his debut album ‘Born To Do It’. In fact still love that album!

But in 2010 Craig has sadly lost his way musically….
