Born and raised in Kansas City, Kansas (USA), openly gay R&B artist / song writer JayBezz has released the single Back In Your Life taken from his debut album Evolove, which drops on the 4th August.
I really like Back In Your Life. The smooth uptempo late 80s soul groove just gripped me and the track is well produced. I also think it’s the sort of track that Michael Jackson (Rest In Peace) would have sung. I can definitely hear Michael on this track.
It gets a thumbs up from me.
Now over to you. Your thoughts please. Hit or Miss?
MPHO is a British talent like no other. A genre-defying singer, songwriter and producer, she has enormous global crossover pop potential. Already a name to drop amongst people in the know, MPHO is set to be one of the most exciting names of 2009.
Her debut single on Parlophone/Wall of Sound, ‘Box N Locks’ is produced by acclaimed maestro, Switch. The track samples the legendary guitar hook from the Martha and the Muffins new wave hit, ‘Echo Beach’.
MPHO was born in apartheid South Africa and raised in a racially mixed family of musicians and political activists in Brixton. Her life story is as colourful as her music, but the overriding theme of both has been MPHO’s determination to find her own space, to define herself on her own terms.
I listened to the single Box N Locks and it has a very early 1980s pop vibe going on. It’s also very catchy, light and radio friendly (which is of great importance these days).
Most if not all of the mainstream stations should have this track on their playlists. If this is not the case then they clearly have issues……..
But I hope it’s a hit for Mpho and I wish her the best of luck.
The organisers of the Miss England contest have defended the competition after it emerged that the first black winner and the niece of Olympic gold medal-winning sprinter Linford Christie, won with only nine votes from the public.
Angie Beasley, director of Miss England, said the public played only a part in the contest, choosing one of the 15 top finalists with this vote amounting effectively to a seventh judge in the final selection.
She said Rachel Christie, 20, a heptathlete from London, was awarded first place by four of the six judges on the night – including the model Caprice – who assessed candidates on factors such as posture and confidence.
She said: “When it gets to the top 15, they are judged on their confidence and their posture on stage and they are judged on their beauty and their personality. When it gets to the top 15 you cannot have the public vote judging that, it has to be a professional panel.”
The vote for Ms Christie comes after Zoiey Smale, Miss Oxfordshire, won the public vote with 2,013 votes. Ms Christie finished 49th out of the 54 original finalists. Continue Reading…..
