Rio Ferdinand has revealed that he has arranged an interview with 50-year-old popstar Michael Jackson.

The England and Manchester United footballer was called by Jackson and invited to one of his summer concerts at London’s O2.

Ferdinand recently launched a digital lifestyle magazine called No.5. Rapper 50 Cent appeared in the first issue.

“I was shaking when I got off the phone. It was a real surprise,” the footballer told the BBC.

“I’m hoping to interview him for a later edition and he’s invited me to one of his concerts to come backstage and speak to him about it.

“The first album I ever owned was [Jackson's] Bad, so that says it all. I got the album when I was living on the Friary estate in Peckham – who’d have thought that one day I might be meeting the guy?”

A meeting of minds…

A friend and former business partner of Jade Goody has announced plans to create a musical based around the life of the late reality TV star.

Danny Hayward told the BBC that auditions for the lead part of Goody would be announced in three weeks’ time.

Publicist Max Clifford said: “It’s an idea that’s got legs, but it’s nothing definite. It’s not all signed and sealed, but it’s something that’s likely to happen.”

Clifford added that he would help cast the lead roles and promote the musical if it went ahead because he “got very close with Jade in the last year and spent a lot of time with her”.

First a Hollywood movie and now this!

Lauryn Hill is to return to the spotlight in July by headlining the Stockholm Jazz Festival in Sweden.

The former Fugee is also booked to play Switzerland’s Montreux Jazz Festival on July 11. The shows will be part of a ten performance European run for Hill, the organiser of the Stockholm Jazz Festival told The AP.

The Stockholm event, which attracts annual crowds of 30,000 people, will mark Hill’s most significant performance in Europe in nearly two years.

I just hope she is of sound mind and body now….

The video is made in the style of an early Busta Rhymes video (circa 1995 – 1998).

Only Bussa Buss could pull it off!

Organisers of this year’s MOBO (Music of Black Origin) awards reportedly want Snoop Dogg to host the ceremony in Glasgow on September 30.

Bosses are said to have lined up the rapper to host the event after his success at similar awards shows in Europe, The Mirror reports.

An insider said: “It would be a huge coup to get Snoop. He’s such a crowd pleaser and was a great host of the MTV awards in Munich.”

This is going to be difficult. The authorites here still refuse to let Snoop in to the country so good luck Kanya!

The runner-up at the Miss USA beauty pageant says her outspoken opposition to gay marriage cost her first place in the competition.

During the televised event, Carrie Prejean – Miss California – said she believed that “a marriage should be between a man and a woman”.

She had been asked for her views on the subject by one of the judges, celebrity blogger Perez Hilton.

“It did cost me my crown,” said Ms Prejean, after the competition.

“We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage,” said Ms Prejean, in a section of the show that has become a popular clip on YouTube.

“I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman,” she continued.

“No offence to anybody out there, but that’s how I was raised.”

The remarks drew a mixture of booing and applause from the audience.

Hilton said he had been “floored” by Ms Prejean’s answer, which, he said, “alienated millions of gay and lesbian Americans, their families and their supporters”.

Ok  punished for being honest, for expressing an opinion and excercising her freedom speech. 

Shame on you Carrie Prejean!!!

I guess it’s old fashioned and un-PC like to believe that marriage should be between a man and woman in 2009.

I am finally going on holiday (my last trip away was in 2006) and will be flying out to Jamaica on April 20th.

Pray for me folks I HATE flying but I look forward to seeing the fam and a change of scenery and climate.

T-mobile with their extortionate overseas usage costs have assured me that my BB will work out there. It better!

Normal blogging will resume on May 13th but expect the odd update if I get near a computer with Internet connection whilst out on my travels.

The Mobo (Music of Black Origin) Awards will host it’s annual event in Glasgow, Scotland this year. 

Up until now the MOBO Awards has always been hosted in London.

The MOBO Awards 2009 will take place in Glasgow on September 30, organisers have confirmed.

It is the first time the event, which was established in 1995 and celebrates music of black origin, has been staged outside of London.

“We are delighted to be able to announce that the MOBO music awards show for 2009 will take place in Glasgow,” founder Kanya King MBE said.

“Throughout MOBO’s history we have prided ourselves on finding innovative ways to bring MOBO music and stellar artist performances to our audience and this year we are making another unprecedented move by bringing the awards to Scotland.”

Interesting move. I guess change is good.
